Spluh.
I repeat,
spluh. This thing took way longer than it should have, and I'm just so tired of it. I'm happy with it, but still glad it's finally done. I've been working on this a little over a week, now, using it to rewrite my old Sonic style tutorial, which can be found
here.
This started out as a doodle on the back of a receipt at work. I knew wanted it to be my entry for the
SonAmy Fans Valentine's Day contest, despite the fact that being a beachy scene, it's sort of unconventional for the holiday, but I am a born and bred California girl, so it just kinda went from there.
I'd like to say a big, big,
big thank you and dedicate this picture to my honey, Matt. I know it seems like I always get frustrated with you when you point out all the mistakes I make and "suggest things too daring for me", but in the end, it's only because of you that I can honestly say I gave it my all. You challenge me to things I don't figure are possible for a person of my limited skills and abilities, and make me try anyway-- Sometimes making me surprise myself. I'm all that I am because of you. I love you, sweetie.

This is indeed very lovely!
I love the moon, the stars, everything seems to fit perfectly. :)
lol!
I agree with you. I don't think that a Valentine's picture has to be all hearts and chocolates and the like. I think pictures like this are more realistic as to what Valentine's day represents. :) Just spending time with the one you love.
49 layers did you say?! Goodness! I get winded at around 7.
Anyway, great job on all of it! :)

Holy poopy. I am impressed. VERY. Once again, through the choice of lighting you've got the perfect atmosphere, and I adore the moonlit sky - not too much overkill with the stars, and simplistic blending with the background helps too. And don't get me started on the heart cluster. That was heart melt-worthy. The main background was done wonderfully too, simplistic, but full of depth.
No need to mention the Sonic style since you're already stupidly brilliant at it anyway. If you're rewriting your tutorial I'd love to see it. You got any new methods for it?
Anyhow, this was well worth all the time spent on it - a definite fave for me, and it also has the honour of becoming my wallpaper for the holiday! :3
