I wanted to challenge myself a bit. Nothin' really out there, but gettin' towards more realistic (while steal being fantasy) settings.

I had fallen in love with a species of Russian (they were bred/discovered/created there) called a Belyaev Fox. They're rare. They're 'newish', and despite the fact they came about in man's quest to breed a domesticated fox, I think they're gorgeous. Since she is a Russian breed, I gave her a Russian name.

I used a Kitsune oriental lore and made her a guardian of a temple. Her foot rests on a jade-marker. She holds jade prayer beads (a bronze fortune coin hangs from those)... Her armor has the symbol of "Light" on it.

The marker's glyphs read (for the tags) Fortune and Good luck, and the marker's tag reads "Temple (Shrine/Church) of Fire" I tried to get a shrine in, as well as cherry blossom trees to tie it all together.

What else can I say that I haven't already said. Very lovely and I'm sure that there are ways to have prints of this made and of your other work.

Holy cow Frisket Hon'! O_O That is by far the most gorgeous thing I've seen in a long time. o_O; Of course, this is the grazy anime girl here. lol I'm partial to oriental lore, but I LOVE the personal and original twist you put on her, using the Belyaev fox as the Kitsune instead of traditional white. The gray and white look stunning against the pinks...just...WOW.

Swandog Says:

I've seen the documentary on those foxes!! They are indeed gorgeous, and I've been waiting to see how long until they start popping up in furry art. Russian folktales feature many fox stories, so if you ever draw any more of these, perhaps you could try a Russian setting as well. :) And you did an incredible job on this one, to be sure!
