Dorky run cycle I did a while back. Used Wolf's rain as a good movement reference, photographs and whatnot.

WHOA. I forogt how jerky this is. Needs more inbetweens.

n_N; neee. i love it. and it only seems to jerk at the point where both pairs of paws get close together. er... or is that just the point where it recycles itself?

Akumyo Says:

Ooh boy. Lucky you, you're gonna get a critique from an animation student.

It does need some correct inbetweens on its front and back legs. I get this wierd sense that the legs are switching positions midway. There is also a point where the back legs just hang for a second.

There seems to be some volume gain when the wolf scrunches up in mid gait. The chest also seems to be rather floaty. The back legs need help. They seem to change lengths through the cycle.

The wolf also starts at a slightly different position at the beginning of the run, than at the end. You want the wolf to stay in the same spot, because usually the background does most of the work in a case like this.

When you did the initial shape test of the run cycle, did you remember to check the consistency of the linework on top of the cycle? Did you animate straight through, then add inbetweens where you saw fit? The animation won't look very smooth until the whole thing syncs up.

Hope this wasn't too harsh. Just trying to help. I see potential here, but it still has a way to go before looking like a finished animation.

I have a weak spot for animation. Hee. I love this. The fact that it's actually 'finished'- it completes a full cycle- is quite a feat. Most of the animations around here seem kinda.. work-in-progress to an almost painful extent.
Good luck with the animations! *wish i had the skills to do one*

metae Says:

Great job, Its a little "jumpy" But I know you know that. Still I say a great well done job. It would be cool if you picked up on this and tried another one. Goodluck if you do.

Mizu Rei Says:

*drools* thats... so ... awsome O___O

BlackUniGryphon Says:

Very inspiring! :)

vensy Says:

Amazing work with this! I made a running animation a while back, but it's nowhere near as awesome as this! Great work!

[ Sorry if the message for me FAVing this spasms out.. I kinda clicked FAV twice..cuz I forgot I FAVed it..then realized I unFAVed it and .. reFAVed it. ... K. ]

Ebonlupus Says:

I like it. The jerky motion accents the roughness of the sketch... it all goes together quite well as is.

meeko Says:

not bad ... but it's not good that the wolf goes back .. his head must be always on the same place ..when it's a standing animation

(:
but i like it - ^~^
