Super Mario Mystery Dungeon Chapter 2

(The opening scene is that of Toad Town. Mario and Luigi and are standing alone in front of a museum while still in their Plusle and Minun forms. The sky begins to darken as a feminine-looking figure concealed by shadows appears before the Mario Bros.)

Mario: MAMA MIA!

Luigi: WAAAAAH!! It-a can’t be!

Shadowy Figure: Oh, but it does be! Ha-ha-ha! Amazing how you managed to survive our last encounter. I suppose that I’ll have to finish the job.

Mario: Not if-a we have anything to-a say about it!

(Mario and Luigi fire Thunderbolts at the shadowy figure, but she sinks into the ground to avoid the electrical attack. The figure reappears a few feet behind Mario and Luigi and she makes them float above the ground using psychic force. Then she makes a sweeping motion with her hand to fling the Mario Brothers into a wall. While Mario and Luigi are lying semi-conscious against the wall, the shadowy figure makes a meteor shower rain down on the Plusle and Minun duo. The crashing meteors make the entire scene turn completely white. A Darkrai flies across the screen and changes the scene to show Mario and Luigi sitting awake in bed at a Wyrre City apartment building.)

Luigi (catching his breathe): Uh, Mario? Did-a you have-a the same nightmare that I was having?

Mario: What-a nightmare did-a you have?

Luigi: …Jeanette coming back to-a End our Games?

Mario (scratching behind his ear): Eh, it-a was probably nothing…

(Meanwhile, back at the Team X base, a small group of Spoink and Lord Grump are standing before The Cross with a crate.)

Lord Grump: Granted that we ran into a little trouble searching for this thing, but we managed to steal it.

(Lord Grump takes a crowbar and opens the crate. Gina flies into the room and dives into the opened crate for a moment and then she comes out holding a brown staff in her arms.)

Gina: Ah, the Genesis Scepter, how I’ve missed you for countless centuries.

The Cross: It is assumed that the Genesis Scepter grants whoever possesses it to reshape the world in their ideal image?

Gina (bitterly): Not in this state.

Lord Grump: You mean I went through tangling with the Rat Pack and that Plusle and Minun for nothing!?

Gina: Now don’t get your tail in a knot! It just needs the eight Genesis Gems in order to work.

The Cross: The Genesis Gems are said to be in the possession of the Powers that created this world. Obtaining shall prove to be difficult.

Gina: Not to worry. I happened to now where those snobby Legendaries have those gems stashed…

Lord Grump (tenting his hooves): Excellent!

(The scene changes to the lobby of the Mario Bros’ apartment house. Mario is seen talking with a Magneton floating behind the clerk’s desk.)

Mario (handing the Magneton a pair of envelops): Excuse-a me sirs, I have-a some outgoing mail that I would-a like to deliver so out-going mail.

Magneton Clerk (takes the envelopes from Mario): Very well then. We shall send them for delivery posthaste.

(The Magneton floats off with the letters. Luigi scurries in with the newspaper.)

Luigi (panicky tone): MARIO! I just-a found some-a terrible news! *shoves the newspaper into Mario’s face* It-a says that-a the Verdance Kingdom is suffering from-a mass destruction!

Mario (while reading the paper): Hmm. It-a says here that the underlings of-a Lady Gardiere have-a been causing massive herbicide in the Verdance Kingdom over the past few days showing no signs of-a stopping. *folds up the newspaper* Sounds-a like we let our sense of-a vigilante justice lead us into another adventure.

Magneton Clerk (while flying up to the Mario Bros): Shall I leave your apartment open or do you plan on coming back?

Mario: Yes, we-a do plan on-a coming back.

(Moments later, Mario and Luigi are seen at the courtyard of the Wyrre City with their suitcases in hand. A Charizard with a white underside, blue boots, a green scarf and brown-rimmed goggles descends before the Plusle and Minun duo.)

Mario (to the Charizard): Ah, so you must-a be that Ace fellow Count Dynamo mention.

Ace: Indeed I am. Everything set to go for the trip?

Mario and Luigi: Oh yeah!

Ace: Then hop on aboard!

(The Mario Bros climb up on Ace’s back.)

Ace: Please keep your hands inside the ride at all times and do not stand until I’ve made a complete stop. Keep in mind that I’m not responsible for any lost lunches.

(Ace spreads his wings out and takes to the sky. The Charizard flies across the screen, which is showing a bird’s eye view of Wyrre City. The screen blacks out afterwords.)
