Owls for October! Owltober!
My dear friend Kay made the most wonderful suggestion that I draw Wan Shi Tong, the gigantic owl spirit in
Avatar: The Last Airbender, which he and I both adore completely. Wan Shi Tong, the One Who Knows Ten-Thousand Things, is the great spirit of knowledge, and is the keeper of the world's most vast and wonderful library, hidden deep in the desert, along with his assistants, the "foxy knowledge seekers".
I took the colors for this from a couple screencaptures of the Book 2 episode "The Library". That's his name written in the lower right-hand corner. All done in ink (with a brush) and Photoshop CS3.
I'm so impressed by this show. It's certainly the most ambitious television cartoon ever produced in the United States, and it was executed with such an extraordinary blend of vision, integrity, and quality in every regard.
...A live-action film is being produced, and I shall
not be in attendance when it hits theaters; I would encourage, likewise, anyone who'd pay attention to also refrain from going to this film. For a complete detailing of the particularly offensive reasons for the feelings of myself and others on this matter, I would kindly encourage you to pay a visit to the website
Racebending.com.
