Dead fantasy: Zero

This was an idea I had for a comic a while back.

The setting was 2000 years in the future. Many of the planets in our galaxy have been colonized as technology in space and time travel developed, among those planets was a small planet about the same size as earth a few hundred light years away. This planet was known as dread. Dread has almost no natural resources, importing most of its resources from other planets. Dread is mostly dessert, with several mining companies spread throughout its lands. Dread contains very rare and indispensable metals for space time travel known as Eon crystals. The mining companies, controlled by the head company Delva mine these crystals. Pretty boring so far right? well heres where it gets interesting, Eon crystals before being processed are highly mutagenic! Miners face health risks, as well as being attacked by the thousands of monsters that dwell under dreads surface! Rumors say that once you've entered the lower levels of Dread you never Emerge!

The main character Jake (middle) is actually a successful delivery pilot. His sister shanoa (bottom left) is an engineer in training and went to dread after receiving an offer from Delva's Crystal research and processing sector. Having not heard a word from his sister for almost a year, Jake accepts a large scale equipment delivery to Central city, world capitol of Dread and the place where his sister was supposed to be staying. What he discovers, will probably get him killed.

The men with the numbers on their bodies are gaurdians, first class soldiers tasked with protecting dread by defending against the powerful monsters that dwell below its surface. There are 10 main guardians followed by several lesser rank guardians who control dreads armed forces.

Dread has a futuristic new york type landscape on the surface, below the crystal mines usually are dark caves, there are some areas with heavy machinery, and several subway stations for transportation and such

Dreads public relations to other planets, other than commerce and government purposes are very poor. Dreads government would most likely be reminiscent of Russia during the iron curtain days.

Dread has a upper middle and lower class. The upper class being the lowest percent, maybe lower than 1 percent. Upper class people usually look like your typical upper class types, flashy clothes, jewelry, sometimes snobby, etc.

Middle class being somewhere between 20-45% are typically normal looking business types, the scientists, engineers, researchers, project managers etc. They usually wear anything between name brand to corporate casual type clothing

The lower class is the highest, being over 50%. These are the workers, the miners etc. They where anything between rags, to work clothes to cheap clothing.

Population:I haven't made many designs yet but I generally pictured dread as being very diverse in population, in terms of race, and species! So yes there would be aliens, monsters etc.

Vehicles: I actually envisioned the vehicles being used as being more futuristic designs of military, construction, and personal vehicles. Something like what Halo did for its vehicles

Weapons: Futuristic handheld weapons like swords, projectile weapons like guns. Powers received through prolonged exposure to eon crystals (so basically mutant powers... think X men like powers).


overall theme: heavy sci fi/ industrial type theme with a type of final fantasy twist
