Foreigners Part II
II. Misunderstanding
Many hours later the limousine arrived at the White House, a group of people standing outside the gate struggling to see. The pitch black door opened and the heroes of the mission stepped out to a resounding cheer from the audience, falling silent again when the foreigner made it's appearance. It stepped out with difficulty and turned to face the crowd, them jumping back in surprise. Then it spoke for the first time since arriving on our planet. It couldn't even be called a voice by our standards. The sound was released from the horn thing underneath it's face and sounded like rolling thunder. The crowd vanished in a second and the thunder continued, the gate being deserted. The heroes, the foreigner, and many agents all walked inside the White House and history was made.
TV cameras were allowed in to capture this moment so the whole world could see. There were many recognizable faces in the room portrayed on the TV: the President, Vice President, Secretary of State, and many others along with the heroes of the mission. During their year on the planet the heroes were taught the alien language, them saying that it was surprisingly simple. They couldn't learn how to speak it, though, as the human vocal cords were not capable of reproducing the sounds of the language so all the questions were all written. The foreigner cooperated fully and answered all the questions it was asked.
The foreigners are carbon based life forms and are able to breath the air on Earth even though they normally breath pure nitrogen. Their kind have been around for many millions of years longer than ours and so are much more advanced. They have met around a dozen other civilizations and regularly trade with them. Wormholes are their main method of travel and therefore they have been to the edge of the universe and back. Religion is not a belief of their civilization.
It was then that a horrible misunderstanding presented itself. The Secretary of State's cell phone began ringing and the foreigner must have misinterpreted this as some kind of attack. It all happened in a split second. The foreigner jumped out of it's seat and grabbed the Secretary of State by her head. It's hand then tightened until she was dead and dropped her to the floor, blood pooling on the floor around her head and her left leg twitching. The entire room opened fire on it, around 200 shots and it finally fell to the floor, dead. Everyone then realized what had just happened: they had declared war on a civilization that they knew almost nothing about.
