THIS SPOTLIGHT AIN'T BIG ENOUGH FOR TWO DARKWINGS OR THEIR EGOS

Second commission for Akuma The Hedgehog. A Darkwing Beyond promotional piece of sorts depicting the original Darkwing Duck, Drake Mallard (possibly one of the best things to come out of Disney, I might add), and the future Darkwing, his adopted daughter Gosalyn.

In regards to drawing Drake, I have to say I'm actually rather amazed with how well he came out. I'm usually never too good with drawing non-human or non-Sonic designs, as the early COLD days with the Pizza Cats may have shown, but save for the bill, a damn fine attempt for never having seriously attempting to draw him before (I tried once out of memory. Terrible.) Cape may be a little too long, but hey, who save for Edna Mode doesn't like long flowing garments?

As far as Gosalyn goes, I took a few liberties here and there with her attire. I think we can all see the obvious Batman Beyond cues in her design since this is obviously a play on that concept (and why not, Darkwing Duck is obviously a play on Batman.), but in terms of specific parts of the design, I decided to make the D logo look more like that of the Darkwing logo's D.

Her helmet, at first, was supposed to be one of those types that snap in the middle, like a the Power Rangers. However, the line in the middle of the helmet got annoying to look at, so I added a little hole near the bottom to imply that she would put it over her head like most helmets (could be considered similar to her favorite video game hero, Wiffle Boy). And the shoes on her sprites are recolored Shadow shoes, so I tried to make them a little less like them, flattening them out opposed to having them on heels and going upward at the toes.

The only real issue I have with this piece is the cell shading itself. I've never really figured out how to make my cell shading look smooth and not as jagged as if often looks. I think it may look even more so on Gosalyn as I didn't have a level area to work with when I worked on her.
