And finished! This is the end of about a month and half long road, not the cover, but the comic in general. We're printing this first micro issue through Ronin Studios, but there's a lot more stories to tell, and will be trying to pitch the comic to publishing houses at Chicago Comic Con. I'll have more details on where else the book can be purchased soon, I hope.
So, on the cover in general, we had been using the special Comic Con print I had done of
page 3 as a placeholder image, but A. I felt like it would be cheap to just have a page from the story be the cover, B. It's less likely that someone would, you know, BUY the Comic Con print if it's the cover, and C. I think a good cover should tease the story inside without giving away too much. So, I spitballed some ideas at Eric, and we decided on making the cover a kind of page zero, starting the story before you even open up the book.
We decided to show a POV from behind Dex's drum kit, showing the band, but only their backs (or in Dex's case, hands). As I was drawing, I thought it would be cool if Dex's drumsticks, which are later revealed to be disguised magic wands, were sparking as he hit them together. Not only does it tease the story a little bit more, but it also looks a little bit more visually interesting, and hopefully will entice people to pick up the book more.

I love the saying at the bottom to catch your eye. Really makes you want to pick it up and see just what's up.
