Fish vs Swords - Ender & Falcon II
Quietly he sat at the bonfire and stabbed a stick into the warm flames from time to time. Behind him he could sense her warmth. Turning around he faced her small back, her slender Body peacefully curled up in a sleeping bag.
Falcon threw another log onto the burnt ones and watched how it caught fire. It had been a while since they had left headquarters. Since then, they had walked countless miles without a single Fish encounter. There was nothing of interest out here in the neutral zone.
He yawned, stretched a little and then turned again. Wasn’t she nicer to look at then this fire? He had seen infinite amounts of burning material, even human flesh; but human flesh that wasn’t burning but was hot whatsoever made him doubt his integrity – at least a little. Shaking his head, he rose to finally walk over towards her, touching her shoulder gently.
She turned her head very slowly, two sleepy eyes were glaring at him from the depths of a fuzzy fur attachment - she was angry.
“What”, she hissed, “I’m trying to sleep.”
“I’m sorry to wake you, Ender. I just found it impolite to not share my thoughts with you since they involve you a lot.”
She sat yawning like a lion.
“Whatever… just get it over with, I need my shuteye.”
A minute later, birds flew off the trees as a violent “SLAP” was echoing through their usually peaceful forest.
“Hey, no need to hit me like that, a simple ‘no’ would’ve done the job, too!”
She tried to slap the other side of his face even harder, but he caught her wrist.
“Sheesh. Let go of me, dude! Just leave me alone, kay?”
He sighed letting go of her.
“I’m sorry; it wasn’t my intent to disturb you or… something.”
She turned to try to sleep again while he was walking towards the fire. This would take another day or two to get a clear thought about.
So; she didn’t decide to go with him because she liked him but because she was probably thinking that he was a competent killer. He sat down onto the bare, cold ground, like a big old grizzly. Was there something he wished more for than experiencing love? Probably, he would need to find it first, though. He didn’t even know how he came to be. He couldn’t remember having a mother or a father, his memories seemed to consist of endless mountains, snow, fire and steaming, red meat. He could remember that one day where he killed a Reindeer, slipped and fell into the pool of piss warm blood. ‘Is that how love feels, warm and sticky?’, that’s what he had thought. Chuckling, he started to throw little stones at the trees surrounding him until suddenly something soft slumped onto the ground to his right.
“Falcon, I’m sorry I was so… harsh.”
“It’s alright. I had false expectations.”
She nodded silently, mustering his blank expression.
“If you’d like to cuddle, I’d find that okay.”
He jumped a little.
“Are you… mocking me now?” his voice changed threateningly, “don’t you dare – uh”
She had silenced him by wrapping her arms around him, squeezing the air out of his Lungs.
“Uh…” he stuttered.
Silence. Minute after minute passed and the two of them didn’t dare to move a muscle.
“You’re pretty warm.” Ender suddenly mentioned releasing him.
He was a little dumbstruck and stared at what was visible of her face.
“What did just happen.” he managed to cough out, “I felt your breasts and…”
Another “SLAP” echoed followed by laughter.
“Is that really all you can think of, you little bastard?” Ender snorted “Gee, get a hold of yourself, man! You’re supposed to kill people and not to try and… what is it?”
He had twitched like mad, risen once more, very rapidly, in a harsh motion.
“Ender…I… we…”
He started to run around like mad, wildly waving his arms.
“… sat on a fuggin ant hill! ITCH ITCH ITCH”
She jumped on her feet and tried to shake off the small insects crawling up her clothes, but there was no chance, they just kept crawling upwards.
A loud “ITCH ITCH Jiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii” and a watery “SPLASH” told her that her partner had just dove into the small river nearby.
The ants were all over her and she -jumped after Falcon whom already satisfied drifted on the water’s surface.
