I posted a journal a week or so ago about wanting to do a fan poster for Tenacious D in the Pick of Destiny, and doing in the style of Drew Struzan. This is a VERY early, VERY rough concept sketch of said poster.
We have Jables and Kage holding up the Pick of Destiny together in that classic Luke Skywalker pose, while the three diner girls fawn over them, clinging to legs and so on suggestively. The diner waitress unenthusiastically touches JB's elbow. Beelzeboss takes up a Vader-like position, taking up much of the top middle of the poster. Surrounding Beelzeboss are repainted screenshots from the movie- Ben Stiller as the Guitar Center guy telling the story of the Pick, his lighter's glow transitioning into JB's shroom trip and John C. Reily as Sasquatch. The other side, beginning from the bottom, shows Lee in the scene where "History" is performed, the Open Mic Host, coloring may hint at his ultimate role, and at the top, Young JB praying to the poster of Dio.

That's a real cool idea. The whole Drew Struzan thing. His photo realism versus your cartoonish style however makes me wonder what kind of effect this could have when trying to imitate said style. It may look better that way, but than can it really be said to be a Struzan piece?

Wouldn't know, but whatever than. Tis all good, and it definately shows a few strong elements already that define a Struzan piece.
