What are we?

Are we good friends or are we something more?
I long desperately to know for sure.

As much as you love me, I love you,
But I'm unsure how much you truly do.

I care for you as much as you care for me,
but how much you do, I cannot clearly see.

Saying this is a difficult task,
But still I find myself forced to ask.

Because I so desperately long to know for sure,
Are we just friends, or are we something more?
