Ugh, I'm having like, the worst time uploading this. I HATE the internet here ~_~ ANYWAY! OMFG! You have NO idea how happy i am with how this came out, seriously. TT_TT the eyes are the masterpiece of the thing, and they took me 3 hours to figure out and draw. BUT IT WAS SO WORTH IT!!!! I have adored the eyes that the artist Carnelian does for 10 years, and have ALWAYS wanted to do them, but i always failed. BUT NOW I DID IT!!! I'll be doing a tutorial on them later, when i get the technique perfected. TT_TT *squeeeeeeee*

Anyway, this is Listell, the first character that i ever ACTUALLY drew on paper, So i gave her a bit of a revamp =3 hope you like!

I saw your progress picture, and i have to say this is definitely a landmark in this character's design. As with most all pictures, though, there are some things that need work.

I know her face is drawn in an anime style, but even for anime, her mouth and nose are extremely small. The eyes I won't say anything about, because that's just par for the course.

Her arms are slightly out of whack. I can see you tried to make her arm appear bigger at the elbow to create the sense of 3-dimensionality. It doesn't do enough, though, and her left arm just ends up looking shorter than the right one. Her belly button also looks just a bit low in comparison to the location of her right elbow.

The shading around her whole body is also a bit simplistic. You made the highlighted areas look so soft, but the shading looks flat and blocky. This is most apparent on her breasts. Your shading on her clothes is also a bit inconsistent. Right at the top of her abs, it looks like her top (or whatever you'd call that) is skintight, but as soon as it hits the trim, that effect almost vanishes.

Anyway, it's definitely an improvement. Keep it up.

Wow the color.

TehD Says:

My main bothers include the coloring from the neck down (not counting the arms). It doesn't match up, as everything in that section seems very shiny, (That bothers me most about the clothes, unless the clothes are plastic or metalic --if such the case, disregard this--, it shouldn't appear that shiny, or even remotely as shiny as her skin is.)

Her chest to stomach area seem very... plastic, like I mentioned before. I think you over did the "shine" parts, and the boobs are off.
My thoughts are, if you are going to shade and color one way, be consistent with it, because it'll look off if you're not. The way you shaded her arms are soft, and subtle, but enough is there for it to be noticable, but her chest is the opposite-- hard, rough, and sudden. Where you shaded in particular is a bit of an issue as well, I don't think the "darkest area" would start that high up, but It may be just me, and my fail with seeing perspective. And one more thing-- the way you shaded the clothes seem like they're part of her skin, or just sticking way too much to it. Even if her clothes were on her very tightly (and if so, there'd should be more lines to show it) the shading shouldn't be so dead-on exact to what her skin would be like. (: Basically the main issue here is that, if you're going to shade one way, you should probably keep it that way the whole time through, so that nothing overly-stands out or ever seems off.

Personally I love the softer shaded parts of this image. I think that's your stronger point.

Annnd. I'm not big an anatomy, or anything, but from what I see, I think you've done rather well for the most part. I agree with you, that the eyes are GORGEOUS. I'd love to learn how to color eyes like that, so I look forward to seeing that tutorial you mentioned in the future. :b And, I think you did really well on the gold, considering it's something you're not used to doing. And last thing I like-- you can draw hands pretty well. xP

That's all. Nice work~! :D I hope I made *some* sense.
