Now, now, how did this fellow pop up?
The first time Jenna drew Grind, I just laughed and called it a Grind Jr. I redrew it on msn the way i saw Grind Jr. I realized it looked actually good and had potential.
Some tweaking and some name games...recipe complete.
Name would be "Tak". That means a lot in Germanic and Slavic languages.
Since he's a kid, they call him "Takle" for cuteness. Taken the mick out of it with "Tackle".
...mmh

I could tell much more about the inspiration, but whatever.
