Reinholder

Did you know I actually have things to say about this? 'Cause I do.
TEAL DEER

First off, yes, those are three individual pieces of paper, and yes, I made them, even the fake club flyer. That's a real coffee stain on the post-it out of pure seredipity.

I'm pretty proud of the composotion off this. The colouring, not so much. I can't see shades of red so the lighting isn't as dramatic as I'd like it to be. As a final note before I start off on the voodoo symbols, the chapter is called "Voodoo" - one word, in comparison with my last chapters ("Further Away" "Hippocratic Oath") because a friend of mine suggested that I break the pattern. He said "A pattern is most noticable when you break it."
So I did that, and named it after a Godsmack song at the same time.

For all the little meanings on the tablecloth... let's see.
- The symbol under the man's hand, and in the upper right hand corner are both Haitian voodoo markings that represent two different gods.
- Under the right hand side of the paper - "aut viam inveniam aut faciam" - Either I shall find a way, or I shall make one.
- MATTHEW 12:43-45 - A passage in the bible (dur) about demons.
- The odd, swirly symbols under the title and crawling down the edge of the tablecloth are elegant mayan, text found on A Perfect Circle's Mer De Noms CD. The phrases written are "eat me" and "Reinholder" respectively.

Okay going to pass out now. If you managed to read all that, you're awesome.

Tsk tsk, you took ALL the fun out of analyzing the work by telling it to us ;) My art appreciation professor would have had so much fun trying to figure it all out. Oh well, I guess it gives us a direct look into the creative process.

The thing that really caught my attention is how well the papers and pamphlet blended with the draw imagery. It didn't really look like you just put some real-life papers on a drawing, it all matched fairly well.

Some of the scales seem off. That pamphlet seems a little too small. And post-it might be a bit too big. I'm judging mostly by the size of the hand and rat.

I also didn't notice at first but it appears that you can see the edge of the table as it goes down(?) I was just following the line of the markers when I noticed the pattern at the bottom. If you want it to stick out more you might make the side of the table cloth a tad darker.

One other creative thing that might have been neat. Leave some of the color out of the highest point along the arm all the way down to the inter-section of the thumb and index finger. You can actually see a little bit of this already. It might have given the arm a little more three-dimensionality and supply a light source a little more strongly... plus... i just love that effect XD

Anyway, great stuff! The composition is a hell of a lot better than anything I could do! You can really see the thought put into this. And that smoke is wicked >:)
