I decided to try to do a series of images but I wanted to do something that I haven't seen before. I didn't want to add to the numerous portrays of the deadly sins or horoscopes. I decided to go with birthstones.
With some research I discovered there is a flower for each month as well as the correlating gem. And of course each gem carries it's own symbolism. My goal is to have each image incorporating those elements while remaining consistent in composition/style/character. I have a very bad tendency of changing styles on a whim so this a mental exercise for myself.
Information
January - Garnet
Flower - Carnation
The garnet was once thought to be connected with blood and protect the wearer from nightmares/darkness thus I added some darker elements into this image.

the hand looks kind of awkward. the way the fingers are going off to the side doesn't look natural at all. the rest looks good, though, in your cartoony style.
