The more I got to thinking about souls and spirits, chaos and order, the more I wondered how the average person deals with chaos and order. I then began to take a look through various games to come up with ideas. What I came up with is that most people are fairly balanced. However, there is always that one oddball who seems to just want to take over or destroy everything. Coincidently, there's also that one person who will do whatever it takes to stop them.
And this got me thinking... what if people carry a balance between the two, and it was this balance that kept them level headed. What happens, then, if someone leans too far to chaos or order? Could it corrupt them? Could it alter their thinking?
I began playing with the idea using two sibling chars to appear later in the story: Tessa and Garen Menat. Tessa was to be chaos, and Garen to be order. What I came up with is that together, they remain fine. However, should an additional chaos force be introduced into the mix, the balancing influence Garen had on Tessa would wane. Meanwhile, Garen would remain fine. The same would apply if it was a pure force of order.
This also led me to some more... interesting ideas regarding Skye, and in particular his "evil" self, Leon Maximus. I warped the story to make it that Leon was not just evil, but was chaos. Just as Tessa and Garen kept a balance, so too did Leon and Skye. However, because of the other elements Leon represented, such a balance could not occur. Leon could simply never be balanced, while Skye seemingly was always balanced, all as a result of this portion of Skye that he removed from himself and gave to Leon.
The creation of Leon story explains this a lot better, though.
