A quick portrait of the famous Dutch-French Post Impressionist artist, who created almost 900 paintings in his life, and only sold one of them...to his brother. Talk about a guy who had a lot of self-motivation for his work! His art was just too new and different for the late 1800s. It didn't help him much that he had epilepsy, a couple different mental illnesses, and syphilis. He ended up shooting himself in a wheat field. (Took him two days to die.)
...He's most famous for his paintings of sunflowers, starry skies, and cypress trees, and for slicing off part of his own earlobe and giving it to a hooker in a fit of despair when Paul Gauguin changed his mind about starting up an art commune. Also, his yellow hat.
