I’m wishy-washy. Sue me.
I mean, do I have to like one Katt Monroe? Granted, some people were PISSED. OFF. When Katt was revived in Star Fox: Command with dark gray fur and a white face. Others hadn’t heard of Pink Katt, and went to Gray Katt with a vengeance.
One guy in the Pink Katt camp, Jonotan Gronoset, has created a very unique version of the elder Katt. See the left. His Katt is the Commodore of the Royal Zonessian Navy, a huge fleet of Cornerian ships. I’ve taken a liking to this Katt, what with her ruthless demeanor, and extreme distrust. I mean, Falco must’ve REALLY pissed her off: yep, Jon’s not exactly FalcoXKatt. (Actually, he uses his character as Katt’s mate. Kinda like JimxSally)
Thing is, I don’t mind Katt’s gray design either. Jon does, but I don’t. During an MSN conversation with Jon, I came up with an idea of how both could coexist…semi-peacefully.
They’re sisters. Pink (Properly Katrina,) still goes by Katt, Gray (Properly Kathryn) once went by Katt as well, but now is Kathy to avoid confusion with her sister.
Kathy Monroe is younger by nine years, and, after the Anglar incident, she became a Cornerian military pilot…after a failed attempt at starting a team with Falco. She also became damn good: the gold bands on Kathy’s wrist signify that she is a squadron leader. She was transferred, against her will, to her elder sister’s fleet…
And it only took 30 seconds for sparks to fly and the two to become hostile to one another. Katt wanted Kathy to stay on Zoness after the Andross war and help rebuild the military to what it once was, but Kathy wanted to try life on her own. Also some word that feelings about Falco had something to do with it. I’ve decided that Kathy will eventually be with Bill Grey.
Katt’s outfit is based upon a couple different designs I’ve seen Jon do for Commodore Katt, sort of a tight-fitting, Sci-fi version of an old-style commodore’s uniform. The details, the rank insignia, the sword, the hat, the hair etc, are all based on earlier drawings he did. I tried to use two different pinks, one for her muzzle, tail-tip, hair, and insides of her ears, the other for the rest of her body. For Kathy’s, I decided upon crossing a Krystal-type flight suit with a standard military uniform. Her helmet is designed, probably, for the Cornerian Short-Range Defense Fighter I designed earlier, what with a permanent oxygen hose and being fully enclosed, and she’s got operating procedures on her thigh, and a pistol holster on her hip.
And, still, I don’t think splitting one character into two is going to change anything regarding fan arguments.
