Shuuya/Shuya is the protagonist from
Battle Royale. The reason why F.T.'s character has the axe in the first place is from some
BR inside joke. There's some intro video they show the students/participants with this preppy chick. She pulls out an axe and is all like kawaii and stuff. So... yeah. Don't ask, I'm not familiar with it.
Shovels are totally awesome impromptu weapons. I DON'T CARE IF THEY'RE CLICHE OR IMPRACTICAL THEY'RE SYMBOLIC AND AWESOME.
