Prior to the comic, Skye has been travelling. It's been five years, as mentioned in this comic. However, he's been traveling the world of Apollos his whole life. It's been while on his travels that's he's transformed from a sarenoid to what he is now. A lot of things will be revealed as the story goes on.
I will give away that because of his travels, Skye's name is known around Apollos. This "popularity" is one key point and is how we skip a lot of crap. For instance, you know all those times when the heroes of a story need something, but to get it they have to do a bunch of stupid tasks? Yea, that plot point is so we can skip stupid tasks!
