You really thought I was finally about to show you what I look like, didn't you?
Well...
kinda. I actually DID use a picture of myself as a reference while drawing this, but obviously I modified it a little.
I really wasn't expecting this last night and today...but it's something I've wanted to try drawing for MANY years and finally accomplished: a self-portrait in the form of a Cardassian from
Star Trek.
The outfit is a cross between one that a young Iliana Ghemor was seen wearing in "Second Skin," and the ones worn by Natima Lang and Releken in "Profit and Loss," along with some of my own design ideas. As for the hair, I decided not to go with the geisha-like do's Cardassian women are most commonly depicted with--I opted for the braids instead since that's something I might actually be tempted to do with my hair if it were straight.
I have to tell you, this is a really weird one for me to see!
One thing I also began to notice as I drew this was the strong Art Deco influence on my style and approach--especially when it comes to the way I handle the shading and blending. While I recognize it isn't the most realistic style, there's something about the aesthetics I really like. (It also happens that, in my personal view, Cardassian architecture and fashion, as depicted on
Deep Space Nine, reminds me of a sort of "dark Deco.")

Wow, cute! I like that :)
The Enchanted Shoe Says:
Brilliant, the shading is extremely effective. Nice hair as well, is that your hair or a Cardassian hair style? I must admit though, that you fooled me into thinking it was my chance to see you, lol.
Jolie Says:
Hee-hee-hee. You make a lovely Cardie.
I've always wondered about artists like Frida Kahlo who seemed to do portrait after portrait of themselves and what drives them to do it. I just don't find the idea of painting/drawing me appealing.
I've never drawn myself as myself. The one and only time I did a "self-portrait" it was me as a felinoid.

Really well done!

I do this sort of thing to annoy my friends, (I never put my image on the net either), I basically drew a cartoon representation of me, that doesn't look 'entirely' like me
But a self portrait of yourself as a member of another race altogether? Thats actually kind of impressive how you managed that

Wow Ayreon! You're a very talented artist, I had no idea

Well I know who I'll be looking up to for my artistic compositions from now on.

hehe, honestly I thought I would see something like this :) Wonderful facial expression. It's wonderful to see a smiling face in the morning. Lovely detail on face and hair

I like this a lot, especially the expression. It looks very peaceful. =)
Lindale Says:
I was wondering why the preview was only the eye
This is really good, the shading really makes it work - so it looks like a drawing based on a different race instead of a human with bits stuck on :)

Haha, you fooled me there too! X3

I really like this one :) The eyes are very nice, and I love the peaceful expression
Great job on the hair and the shading as well! :)
Very creative to draw yourself as a completly other race
(Hehe, I don't think I ever made a self-portrait, I did upload a photo once, but I think I removed it already X3 )
