Untitled ShortFic
Kith and Jimmy were working through the night to fix Jimmy's train, since he had to return to Wherewithal soon. Jimmy had gone inside the train to get something, so Kith just continued working until the large thump of a large crate distracted him.
"What's that?" he asked.
"Some guy gave it to me and I don't know what to do with it, so I'm leaving it in your considerably more responsible hands," Jimmy said, shrugging.
"...Well, what's in it?"
"How the hell should I know?"
Kith shrugged and went back to work, not paying any more attention to the crate. When dawn finally broke, he picked it up with ease and brought it to his room. It fell on the tiled floor with the same crunching thump, but it didn't say 'fragile' anywhere, so Kith figured it was perfectly okay to toss it around. With a quick swipe, he tore off the side, and a cascade of packing peanuts came out. Figuring that nobody would be stupid enough to ship a crate of packing peanuts, he picked up one end and dumped the crate on the floor.
Out fell a small, green hedgehog with white tipped spines, and a sliver of blonde hair. Her clothing was simple, and fairly limited, as she was only clad in boots and gloves. There was a blindfold that was intertwined with a large set of headphones that seemed to be connected to her. Kith was a little shocked, and hoped that she wasn't dead. He felt her for a pulse, but her body remained the same temperature as the room.
"Goddamn it, Jimmy..." He was glad that Jimmy had gone to bed on the train. Kith managed a sigh, and pulled the blindfold off of the girl. At once, her eyes opened wide to reveal violet eyes that had no pupils. She seemed to gasp and drew back some, but the only things that could be heard were the scuffling of the packing peanuts as she moved, and the little bell around her neck.
"Are you okay? I didn't mean to be rough with that box." Kith rubbed the top of his head. He hadn't seen anything like her, and she didn't appear to know what he was either.
"So, miss, what's your name?" He asked. She blinked, and the pupil less eyes now had a black question mark in them.
"Okay, then. Where are you from?" She looked up at Kith again; the question marks still standing in her eyes.
"...Can you speak?" Kith was a little annoyed that he couldn't get answers from her. She looked down and blinked a couple of times, then looked back up with an emoticon of a sad face in her eyes.
"I'll take that as a no." He dug around his office some and found one of Jimmy's t-shirts. The hedgehog was near completely nude, and he didn't want to make her look out of place. Kith handed it to her, half expecting to see her put it on, and half expecting her to have no idea what to do with it. She looked at it, and looked at him with the same question marks. Kith sighed again; his latter expectation fulfilled, and pulled it over her head. She slid her arms through the sleeves and smiled at him.
Kith continued the day as normal, which was mostly just arranging things for his class and fixing Jimmy's train. With every step he took, though, the green hedgehog was right behind him. He told her to go away, but she didn't seem to understand.
"Found a new friend, Mr. Kith?" Dr. Lupin joked while shredding some papers.
"Technically." Kith was still annoyed that she had followed him.
Dr. Lupin went over to the girl, and the light pink circles on her cheeks lit up as if she were blushing.
"My, my... She must not like strangers." The hedgehog had skirted around and stood behind Kithrixx, still blushing lightly. Kith gently pushed her out from behind him, so Dr. Lupin could get a better look. She looked up at him pleadingly as Dr. Lupin looked over her body.
"Hmmm, this is interesting..." He was looking at the back of her headphones.
"What is?" Kith bent down to look at where Dr. Lupin was pointing, and saw the word 'Sprite'.
"Sprite... Is that your name?" Dr. Lupin asked, smiling softly at the hedgehog. Her response consisted of her cheeks lighting up even more, and nodding. "Well, at least you know what to call her. Where did you find her, anyway?"
"It's a long story,” Kith said, after falsely coughing into his hand. He left the room after that, with Sprite hot on his heels. She was completely silent and wouldn't have drawn attention to herself, if it weren't for the bell on her neck. It was fairly annoying, as it announced Kith’s presence as he traveled about, and ruined his usual agenda of staying out of the observation of the students.
At about Midday, Kith had had enough; he turned around to face her, and simply told her to go away. She continued to look up at him for a while, and then put her hand up to her mouth in a silent giggle and hugged Kith.
"You can't even understand basic English, can you?" Her lack of a response was a good enough answer for Kith.
"Figures. Well, since Jimmy’s rocket doesn’t need immediate attention, I guess my new task is to teach you how to communicate," he said with a sigh.
He brought Sprite back to his room, and sat her down in a chair near his desk. Kith knew she was a robot of some sorts from the headphones she wore, so he was going to try to download a few files onto her. She watched him with curious delight as he put on his white coat and picked up a small flashlight from his desk. He spun around on his heel to face Sprite with a determined air about him.
He walked over to her and began to lift up the shirt he had given her. Immediately, Sprite's cheeks lit up with a bright scarlet glow, and she looked away shyly. Kith chuckled a little, and reassured her that this was normal. Even though Sprite couldn't understand him, she calmed down a little and allowed him to take off the t-shirt.
Through the disguise of an exam, Kithrixx searched Sprite's body for an information port. He searched every nook and cranny of Sprite's body until all that was left were her nether regions. When it came to that, he spread her legs slightly, and proceeded to press it softly. That is, until Sprite became scared and pressed him away with the sole of her boot.
"No information port. Damnit. I guess I have to teach you the old fashioned way," he said, trying to soothe Sprite a little. Kith handed her back her shirt, and went out to loot a couch from Jimmy's train so she could sleep there for the night. Sprite, of course, followed.
Jimmy was already awake by the time Kith went out for the couch, and he wasn't about to let Kith take any furniture. "What the hell are you doing, Kith?" he asked as Kith picked up Jimmy's couch with ease.
"That crate you gave me had a special surprise inside." Kith gestured back at Sprite, he knew she was following him from the sound of the bell.
"What."
“Robot.”
“What.”
“Yeah.”
“… Well, shit. Take the couch. I owe you that much.”
Kith nodded and walked off with the couch hoisted above his head after that. He made his way easily through the halls, even though it wasn't easy for people to pass him, and fit the couch into the doorway of his room. He shoved it in the corner adjacent to the window, and laid down to stare at the ceiling, wondering if it would be so kind as to provide answers to his current predicament.
Sprite stood at the doorway for a moment and looked in at his room. After a few minutes of studying the interior, she went in and crawled on top of Kith and fell asleep on him, resting her head on his torso. Kith looked at her in bewilderment and tried to push her off of him or at least get up, but her tiny arms clutched him tightly. With a sigh, he gave up, and decided to use the downtime to think.
