I recently met this nice fellow by the name of Jonotan Gronoset. He makes 3D models for videogames, and he’s also a pretty big fan of things that run on steam, Boats and trains and stuff.

So I designed this.

It’s a Steam-powered car, based on the world’s fastest steam locomotive, the LNER A4 “Mallard.” The “engine” is a 3-cylinder high-speed engine, driving the wheels directly at speeds closing in on 170MPH. True top speed has not yet been tested. The car uses a compact, high pressure, kerosene-fired boiler, supplying steam at 700PSI. The car actually resembles a sedan delivery, with a small wing and splitter added for downforce.

Because of the large water tanks and other equipment in the back of the vehicle, there are only two seats. Electronics and automated systems mean there is no need for a fireman, but there are plenty of gauges to keep a driver busy. I’m going to assign the car to Jonotan’s character, Jon, and I’ll also let the character’s company have built it.
