I love the lighting on this... and holy hell the colors are absolutely gorgeous. The idea of Shassie as a conductor is rather interesting I think. Looking at him I can just picture the orchestral music that should go along with this.

I am still awestruck by this. I was all "Whoa" when I saw it in your LJ, and I'm still oggling over it. This is simply stunning. The details in his coat are striking, and the dramatic lighting is very much effective. I am especially drawn to the little details in the buttons; they just pop out right at you. I love the look of stern concentration on Shasalis' face. Every frown line punctuates the emotion nicely, and the light and shadows on his face bring out those emotions even more strongly. The hair is gorgeous as always, flowing and catching the light. I am loving the soft glow of the spotlight in the immediate backround that is aimed toward him, and you really get the impression that he is performing before a ghostly audience.
The wand really grips my attention, and you already know that I think that the smokey effect is stunning. I noticed that the piece itself allows your eyes to drift in a circular motion in order to take in all of the details. It is ultimately framed by the smoke itself. The light beams coming from the spotlight are also a very nice touch. Shasalis looks so real and illuminated here; it's truly wonderful.
