...Paper faces on parade.
I wanted to do a Phantom of the Opera piece, and here it is.
I also wanted to make something darker than I usually make, it was a challenge. Still don't know if I quite did it right. But I've been rather disappointed with how people portray the character of the Phantom. He was dark, he was messed up, especially when he busts out the Red Death costume and threatens the lives of all lest they satisfy his greed.
I like this piece, and I don't. I don't feel that I lived up to the original image in my mind at all... and it's because I don't f***ing know how to paint. DX I put a good amount more effort and finesse than I have in the last few pieces I've done... but all of that seems lost to me. The rendering is not up to par for me.
I don't know anymore. You tell me what you think.
Also, can you find familiar faces?

Excellent picture, let me say. I love the concept. Very unique. And the detail paid to the rather simple masks is great.
Ditto on the portrayal. He's supposed to be crazy, yet it's conveniently glossed over most of the time.
I think this piece is excellent. I don't think I could be more impressed with the details on his costume and the simplicity of the other masks is pretty jarring. In a good way.

This is a really nice pic. I think you're a very talented artist, great colours, predominantly red and black (my personal favourite colours), plus the background is awesome in the simple yet effective detail. Love the blood like spatter at the bottom of the scene!

Unfortunately I dont know ANYTHING about Phantom of the Opera.
But as far as this picture goes: I really like the pose and shading you did. It's dramatic and leaves enough room for interpretation. I also like the details on the boots and the coat itself. Also: Nice choice of colors.
Sucks that it didnt turn out the way you wanted it to. Maybe you just need some distance to the picture and will like it eventually.
