The Tenrec and the Hedgehog
Chapter 1
The sun shined strong on the golden sand of Emerald Beach as the sea greeted everyone who looked at it with its strong and sparkly blue colour. The beach was filled with excitement as the long wait for the grand finale was almost to an end. Everyone’s jaw dropped to the ground as it was a sight to behold, the wait was finally over. People’s eyes sparked as the beach goddess known as ‘Emrlahontis’ whose emerald hair waved in the gentle wind rose from the sea. She looked at the crowed with her hazel eyes put one hand up and said
‘’ Guardians of emerald beach. As you well know I can only come to this surface once every 300 years and yes it is true that I grant one wish and answer one question of who I deem worthy ‘’
Everyone one waited patiently as she examined the crowd then finally shouted in loud but melodic voice
‘’With the Tenrec know as Sapphu please step forward’’
Everything went quiet even the rustling of the trees went quiet at the name Sapphu. Five minutes into the silence passed, ten minutes, fifteen minutes, the goddess flicked her hair as she turned around. She started to walk forward until she heard a distance ‘’Stop!’’ From the back of the crowd. She slowly turned round and there stood the most beautiful Tenrec you could ever lay your eyes on. Her radiant blue purple glow shown as much as the goddess hair. Sapphu stuck one of her five long claws at her and shouted
‘’I believe you owe me one wish goddess. I couldn’t care less about this question…’’
‘’ Fine. What is your wish then Sapphu?’’ The goddess calmly replied.
Sapphu’s eyes met the floor she opened her mouth but stopped and could feel all the eyes staring into the back of her head. No one could forget the look in Sapphu’s eyes at that moment as she shouted out her wish, they were eyes of hope and happiness she put everything into this next sentence, her heart, her love, her hope and her life.
‘’I wish…I wish I knew someone who understood me! I don’t want to feel alone anymore! I want to love someone!’’ There was so much truth in this wish. It shocked the goddess but she smiled as she thought I knew I made the right choice.
‘’So be it child’’ She snapped her fingers and the next thing everyone saw was bright light and she was gone. Sapphu fell to the ground as the elder walked up to her.
‘’What have you done? Just easily giving up the question like that! You know we all agreed to use that question about our life stock you young fool!’’ He shouted.
Sapphu stood up glared at the elder and hissed these words.
‘’Why would I care about you? What have you ever done for me? When have you ever got to known me? You don’t! Because I was different from everyone else! I wanted to be myself and because of that you’’ she flung a finger towards his face ‘’and the rest of the town cast me aside! Like I never belonged here. But for all I care. I wish you the best of luck in your ‘life stock’ so called elder’’ she pushed to one side and walked off into the sunset. Everyone’s faces turned pale as a town guard ran up to the elder.
‘’Shall I call the guards sir!?’’
‘’No…She was right we should of never cast her aside. Leave her be. I don’t think she will be staying in this town much longer. I get the feeling she ready to move on’’ The elder smiled Good Luck Sapphu. May good fortune smile upon you.
