Nice piece. I was going to comment on the lack of prominent shadow, then came to the realization that you don't see much shadow on ice, however, it might add to the piece should you have tracks or something indicating how he got to this situation (maybe the skid marks).

Oh my...beautiful coloring, but the image itself is painful to look at! I think I have a hard time with images of animals in positions where they might get hurt, especially when they seem helpless to stop it.
I really hope this doesn't come off the wrong way, but I would rather you not get this reaction elsewhere first. :-/
