Time Corp Races: Shvinnti
Our next race is the Shvinnti, pronounced "Shuh-vin-tee". Native to the planet Krast, they are a good example of how easy it is to destroy a civilization.
Throughout their history, female Shvinnti were considered stupid, unintelligent creatures by the males, and were treated as near-slaves. Eventually, the males started a war that was bigger than they could handle, and an ill-planned bioweapon was accidentally loosed on Krast.
Within a year, male Shvinnti no longer existed. As their society collapsed, the females were forced to learn quickly how to survive on their own, and eventually developed a stable tribal society of their own among the ruins.
While Shvinnti look like reptiles, don't let the scales fool you; they're actually marsupials. As for how they've survived for the past eight thousand years since the Collapse...
Shvinnti females give birth every thirty years to two identical children. Without a male present to introduce a now-useless biochemical, the children are always female as well. Shortly after birth, they climb up into their mother's pouch, where they remain for just over three years, growing to half their adult size while nursing. At this time, the mother forcibly evicts her children, refusing to have anything to do with them for a period of at least three months. The young Shvinnti are considered adults as soon as they are abandoned.
Shvinnti can move incredibly fast, and amazing diggers. They can tunnel through most soil as fast as an average human can walk. Their night vision is very keen, and they possess fifteen hearts; one main one inside their chest, and fourteen minor ones along their lower body.
The soft bristles which form their crest can be flattened, much like the hackles of a dog, although it is usually worn in the erect position. A flattened crest usually means a Shvinnti is worried or distressed. The crest is always white at the tips, unless dyed.
Shvinnti in the Time Corp are almost always soldiers or doctors. They generally make lousy pilots and drivers.
