There was a reason the captain did not look forward to the nights.
Captain Delhamue's previous catastrophe had lost him his crew, the best men and women he had ever met. They died horrendously before his eyes, and he believed it was because of his mistakes...
He opened his eyes and felt his heart give a sickening lurch. His surroundings were familiar, so familiar, exactly as he had dreamt time and time again. Around him lay his new crew, the ones who had trusted him, saved him, worked hard for him. They were dead or dying, exactly as he had in other nights. Behind him, his navigator's eyes rolled in his direction. Oriole opened his mouth to let sound escape from his lips, but none came. Shivering, panicking, Captain Delhamue curled up tight, waiting for the morning, waiting to wake up from this nightmare...

For my Second Quarter Exam. Had to pick something form that 100 Theme List thing. We could have mixed themes, so I did. Dying and Dream.
All characters and story (c) MelW.2008 aka Zennilynn

PS:
My scanner totally killed the soft coloring. It's harsh and sharp and I don't like that. But in person it's much nicer, I swear. ;0

Well, you already know how I feel about this, so I'm just going to shut up and sit here and stare at it a little longer. 83

I love the use of grays and reds, they always work well together. The blue hues are nice too. :> There's so much detail in this picture, also such nice texturing. Gnaaahhh good job!
Bam Says:
You're bloody brilliant, and I have told this before, haven't I?
Lovely mediums, and writing as well.
Just amazing.
Anubis S Jakkaru Says:
I would just like to state I love the detail in this picture. In fact, I'm going to favorite it. Bloody things make me happy, and people being traumatized by said bloody things makes me even happier.
However, not to disregard the carnage and deepness in the picture...Is that a...large cat in the middle of the picture? I'm curious as to that particular detail.
Kori Says:
That eye in the corner there really adds to the pulse of the image.

Shadow Dinosaur Says:
I agree with Kori! I admire the mostly greyscale and a single sting of red color. It brings this out very nicely
