NetRaptor is a fanfic writer, and she's the best one I've ever run across. She centers around Sonicfandom and game adaptations, (many of which are better than the actual games.) You can find her writings here:

In her most recent story, an adaptation of Shadow the Hedgehog, Mecha (Metal Sonic) recieves a rune that enables him to channel Chaos power without frying himself into a lump o' plastic. His chao Aleda is also pictured 'ere. c:
If you've ever found the plot lines in any of the Sonic games to be lacking, (even if you haven't,) you should check her out. Ye never did see someone spackle a plot hole so well. ^^
