this takes me back. back in the day when i thought photoshop filters were the hot shit.
anyway. been dicking around with a free trial to star wars galaxies the past few days. it's a nice enough game, but my computer has no where near the memory to take it. like, going into a town? HA. so i'm kinda stuck poking things in the desert.
but yeah. trying to incorporate lips into my style. they're so damn awkward.

i've always had a love/hate relationship with lips. i find it's better to try to imply lips than full out draw them. a lot of details are usually better to imply with shading or coloring than with lines because the way you actually see them is different from how you want to draw it. it's funny how a general shape can imply a lot without actually drawing any detail, and how much drawing details can make it look more off. just it can be hard to figure out how to do that. i think you're on the right track though.
i drew lips the way you did here for a long time, but always felt awkward about it too. trying to draw lipstick drives me nuts because it never really looks right. i'm still trying to figure out how to best do mouths where the upper lip is actually "visible" without being weird looking.
