It Hurts When it Rains

"H-how does that justify his reasons!" Edward questioned, his voice trembling. He turned away from the blonde, clapping his hands once more and transmuting another wall of stone. He struck it with his left leg, crumbling it to bits before dropping to his hands and knees, his long blonde ponytail falling over his shoulder. Edward's entire body was shaking uncontrollably. "He was...always trying to protect me before too," the alchemist choked.

He tried to restrain the overwhelming emotion threatening him but to no avail. It slammed him from every direction possible like an avalanche of rock. He tried to hold back the howl of misery that threatened to escape, fighting it's way out of the alchemist's soul, but he couldn't. Edward let out an anguished sob, dissolving into tears on the ground in front of the river.

"Winry it...it hurts when it rains...I'm sorry, Al...I," was all he could manage before his cries took over his ability to speak.
Winry dropped on her knees beside him and wrapped her arms comfortingly around his shoulders.
