Moonbeam: Luna Dragon Plushie

For my birthday I received a sewing machine. Woo! No more sewing by hand! I actually went and bought the sewing machine on the 3rd, and of course had to test it out. Well, since there was no school or work on the 4th, this is what I spent my holiday doing.

I wanted to try something 'cute and cuddly' so I experimented with a (dare I say it) 'chibi' version of a luna dragon. I couldn't find any free stuffed animal patterns online, so like always I just winged it on my own. It helps that I have a lot of stuffed cats to use as examples. I worked in a chest-piece to the pattern (my first luna dragon was just two side-pieces sewn together) and then decided to go for all-out cute by making floppy legs. Having a sewing machine is wonderful - this plush only took 8 hours as opposed to the entire weekend (nearly 24 hours) I put in on Timor, my first luna dragon. Most of the time was taken on the feet and the wings. Sometimes I wonder what insanity persuaded me to make plushies of six-legged creatures...

But yes, I have named her Moonbeam. She's roughly a foot long from head to tail tip, she has sculpey-bead eyes, and her wings are floppy (though they are topped with a pipecleaner for some poseability). She has a gold 'spirit gem' thing on her chest (because otherwise it's hard to tell different Luna Dragons apart...) and she loves sitting on people's heads, hehehe.

I'm actually planning on making a few Luna Dragons with this style and either selling or auctioning them off (Starting price maybe ~$30-35?). Kinda crazy how far Luna Dragons have come since I doodled them up one day, but FUZZY DRAGONS are happiness. Especially small ones. So far my plan is to make adoption certificates and maybe small unique artwork to go with each luna draggie I sell. SPREAD THE LOVE, yay!
