A venture into watercolour and pastels. Might I add that I suck at watercolour.
So this is the first picture I've ever done of Abira, as well as Asbeel before his Fall. Although the timing's a bit off for the events to transpire, at least the ice cream was good.
Also, it was an experiment in lighting; I think I'm going to go back to my markers.
Comments, crits, flaming plecos -- YES, the flaming plecos are back!
EDIT: Colour corrected it, now that I have the original in front of me and not in the judging area.

Very beautiful. The medium is absolutely perfect, and the detail created is stunning. It's nice to see traditionally painted artwork of this quality rather than digital work. This gets a Yes in my books.

I really love the sky, ironically enough it gives this piece a nice atmosphere. I don't know, I just like how it kind of swirls right above their heads. It's just a nice picture altogether. :3

It won't show up. ;_;

I knew this would make the front page! *glomps* I fave'd it when it was just coming in new.

How can you call this "sucking" at watercolor? This is AMAZING how you got that much detail in there with watercolor! I'm guessing you used a fairly dry brush (only a little water) to get that much in? How big was your paper?
I think it's BEAUTIFUL. Please don't give up on watercolors. This is a VERY well-deserved front page!!

The really amazing thing is that I've never seen a watercolor piece that manages to look so much like an acrylics or oil painting: The solidity of the objects, the brush stroke lines, the shading with diffuse highlighting strokes. It's a really nice painting, but I think that if this is the the style you like, you might be able to save a lot of work by just using a more solid paint in the first place :)

Gorgeous picture! Those wings are amazing... as is the entire piece. x3
