Contest Entry: Vercingetorix

Sorry this cutting it so close. I redrew him multiple times and ended up sticking with the first one...partially because it was already half-inked. It was also done about a month ago. Meaning, had I just stuck with it, I could have gotten this in sooner. DX

Aaaanyway, this is my character for Stinky McGooberkins' 15Elements contest. The prompt was to invent a character for the story, and the winner's character will make an appearance, presumably not a permanent one.

Anyway, in order to make him not be a lasting character, I set up Vercingetorix (Nicknamed "Rix") to be killed off. Because I like tragic characters. DX If you haven't noticed.

Aaanyway, Vercingetorix is apparently human, despite his strange eye. He's also the reigning champion of an arena called the "Fire Pits." The name is ironic because it is situated in a snowy town far to the north. He uses his fans, along with his own magic to manipulate forces such as gravity, thrust, lift, and drag. He uses this occasionally to appear to fly. However, in many cases, he will use this to pull his enemies closer or repel them away, often into dangerous areas. Because of his grace and pristine record, he's almost viewed as angelic during the day. However, at night, he tarnishes that image by wasting his prize money away on drinks and gambling. As it says in the picture, his right eye was injured in a bar fight when someone smashed a beer bottle on his face. It will heal, but that's why he originally looks like that. Anyway, he really hates what he's become and apparently has tried desperately to return to who he used to be, always succumbing to his habits and urges. As a result, it's later discovered that he has been fighting in the arena for one of those honourable deaths from a worthy opponent. Needless to say, he's had no luck so far.

On a fun note, Rix used to have a lover, who presumably either died or left him. On another fun note, I was thinking he or she would possibly resemble one of the main characters. That way there'd always be that fun/awkward moment in which he mistakes one of them for his sweetheart.

Eventually, I'd assume that the main characters stumble upon this place and somehow encounter him. Eventually, both sides of him are exposed, and either he's defeated or he's somehow emotionally touched by one of them. Euh...Yeah. Something like that. He ends up somehow tagging along with the characters for a short amount of time when some monsters or otherwise strong, feral creatures attack. Vercingetorix tells them to continue on ahead to wherever they're headed, and he'll take care of the foes. Whether they refuse or not, he somehow ends up fighting them isolated, and eventually, the fight scene is discovered with blood stained snow and his fur cloak tattered on the ground. None of his remains are found, however, keeping his death somewhat ambiguous and debatable.

That's what I had in mind. Sorry if it isn't that good. Sort of liked the colouring/inking/everything on the picture. It looked so much better as a sketch. And then I ruined it while inking it.

Oh yeah, here's his basic profile:

Nickname: Rix (only by those who get close to him)
Gender: Male
Age: 19 (I guess)
Weapon of Choice: Fans/force magic
Element: Forces (Assuming he's allowed to have one)

Personality: He's distant and unapproachable most of the time. Unlike a lot of young men his age, he appears to have no interest in women. That, along with his slightly effeminate dance and his interest in beautiful things, he's sometimes assumed to be homosexual. This, however, is unknown, since he appears to have no real interest in relationships at all. Maybe he is, maybe he's metrosexual. He usually appears to be timid outside of the arena, but effects of alcohol cause him to become very aggressive and belligerent. That combined with his losing streak at gambling cause him to often lose his temper and start fights with the other men at the tavern. He's a very depressed man who longs to be with people yet at the same time is afraid of being hurt resulting in that timid behaviour. This also creates some deep seeded frustration, which he lets out when alcohol takes away reasoning. He also has pride and honour, which are both hurt whenever he behaves poorly at the tavern. He tries to stop it, but he finds difficulty in breaking old habits, especially since he enjoys drinking his pain away at night.

Love interest: It's up to Kitty, really. He used to love someone named Morgan.
