In fantasy Wargs (or worgs) are a race of wolves, but generally larger, stronger and more intelligent. In Old English warg is „large wolf”.

In Tolkien’s books they appeared as evil friends of goblins and orcs, also wargs were used by them as mounts.
Possibly wargs were descended from the werewolves.
But Tolkien never gave a full description of them... So I made my own variation. (:
