PIRATES!
I'd had the line art of Mal's redesign sitting in my gallery since late last year... and I still liked it, which is unusual of itself. I've been wanting to really begin to experiment and attempt to grow with my digital coloring, and used it for my guinea pig.
At any rate, this is Mallaurie DuPre, my POTC pirate-alter-ego/OC/Mary Sue/whatever in her current design. behind her, the one and only Black Pearl. (And my first attempt at a fully rendered from-scratch digital background. O_O)
Mechanical pencil lineart for Mal, Photoshop Elements and Wacom Tablet for everything else.

I love this! :3 Not only is she a pirate, but the coloring and her pose makes her seem very real and solid. There's no sense of her "floating" in space, she's standing firmly. Excellent work! The outfit is also very good.

Love the little anachronism going on with the boots. Combat boots with high boot flaps. Interesting combo.

My gawd. I seriously saw it and my poor old jaw just dropped. *attempts to salvage it* I can't get across how wonderful I think this is; the drawing itself is awe-inspiring, but the color adds life and vivacity that isn't often seen in artwork anymore. Ten out of ten from me! The ship is probably my favorite part...
