This is the final version. The finished version. I think, at least I'm finally done with it.

I'm thinking about making a version with paw-prints in the sand or something... Dunno. But this one... is done.

I promised a full back story, so here goes.

This is an image drawn mostly out of memory, from back when I was give or take... fourteen, and working on my tan (read: severe sun burn. I don't tan).

This would have been down in Long Beach, CA... and included in the image are;
My Dad's beat up old beach umbrella, a towel I seriously wish I had, and my beach ball.

Also included in the image... my real eyes.

So, on that day I actually wasn't using a towel. I was just laying straight on the sand. The wave is real, and it totally soaked me. It also pulled my ball back with it and for some unknown reason when the ball got a few hundred yards out, it suddenly popped under the water and never showed up again. I dunno if there was a Desalination plant intake there, or what... though, I'm pretty sure they put those a LOT farther out.

I was actually wearing my old "Blue Blockers(r)" (anyone remember those?) but wasn't about to try and figure out how to draw them in.

Hrm, let's see what else. Oh! The shorts. Those are real, but I changed the color. The real one were white. Yes, white.

We all know what happens to white nylon when it gets wet, right? yeaaahhh. I have no idea what I was thinking when I bought them, but I know it wasn't about what would happen when they got wet. Consequently, they were rarely used.

I guess that's about it.... this thing has taken forever to do, but I'm extremely pleased with myself for once. The lineart (that it's based on) was far better than anything I'd done prior, and the coloring and shading is also far better than anything I've done before. I still see a great deal of room for improvement, but it feels good to know that I'm 99% likely to be on "The Right Track".

Cheers!
