Based on this picture, taken on today's easter hike in the Perlbach valley in the Eifel. A simple little watercolor piece, with particular emphasis on trees.

Good points: Success on the trees, both the single one on the bottom-left, and the ones in the background. Good fading. Also nice green gradients.

Bad points: The yellow flowers are pale on the dark green background. I should have kept small spots white for that purpose. Maybe try sprinkling masking fluid?

oooo really nice watercolors. I like the back forest and the broken tree.

First of all, nice colors. I really love the colors of those flowers, and the grass as well. You are right though--they are blending in a bit too much, making it a little bit too muddy. Try not using as much water in the watercolors, or wait for it to dry a bit more before applying the yellow... or do as you said--use masking fluid. As for the trees and the like--I think they could use a little bit of value on them. They're getting a little bit flat. That one in the lower right corner though did turn out quite nicely--I love its silhouette. The ones in the background are confusing me a little bit--I think the blending isn't quite working there. I think what also might be confusing me is generally in a piece the foreground is lighter and the background is darker, or the foreground is darker and the background is lighter. It feels to me a bit like it's switching between the two, and so I'm a bit confused on what's the foreground and what's the background. I think by making the trees back in the forest all darker than the colors in the foreground and lightening up that tree that's in the foreground, it could be fixed. I love the sky too, though--really nice job with the colors on there.
