Ok, so I wrote these over a period of time, and I don't expect you to read all of them, to be honest. Er, the only one I didn't include was Springtime, and that's because I'm actually going to try and publish that one really soon, and I'm paranoid about it. If you REALLY want to read it, I'll let you, but... >> Eventually I want to get these all published, but most of them are to dark for me feeling comfortable about sending them into a magazine, and the others I either feel aren't complete, or have copy write issues, like "Sweeny Todd". Ok, now I'm going to describe all my poems. Feel free to skip this part. I'm just bored.
Sweeny Todd- This one I wrote after watching the play on DVD, "Sweeny Todd". It's about a barber named Benjamin Barker, who got sent to jail, and comes back home and learns that his wife is dead, and his daughter was basically kidnapped. So he goes crazy, and he teams up with his lady friend, and he becomes a barber again, only this time people go into his shop, and he kills them. His lady friend then bakes them into pies. But, it turns out, Barker isn't the only deceptive character in the play. Lies are everywhere, and deception is found in the most innocent looking people.
Dreams- One of my almost positive poems. It's about, well... dreams.
Innocence- Kind of a commentary on how we want to tell children and teenagers what's going on in the world, but we edit a lot of the controversial stuff out, so we don't 'upset' anyone. There is no such thing as a knowledgeable teenager, who still holds an innocent view of the world, even though that is what teachers' desire. Basically, it's about the destruction of innocence.
Crimson- About self harm.
Passion- About how too much passion/lust can demolish innocence and become a dangerous and deadly obsession.
Rainbow- It's about... GASP... a rainbow.
Solitude- About loneliness
Vendetta- About consuming revenge.
