Alter Aaron
Ch. 1, Birth of a Legend
There is a story, only known by those who's blood is connected to those whom the story affects. It is a story, known to all those in the family, but they dare not speak of it to anyone but the family, for they fear the wrath of the druids who made them the way they are. It happened long ago, in simpler times, when kings and queens ruled the land, in a land long forgotten, except for us, those that were affected by the druids. It involves the brave Aaron McCloskey, his beautiful wife Madeline, and their wonderful newborn son, Jacob.
Aaron and Madeline were celebrating the recent birth of their newborn son, Jacob, and all their wonderful friends came to the party that was held in Jacob's honor. Even the prestigious King and Queen came to celebrate, being friends of the McCloskeys since they came to this land to escape the plague of their family in their home country. The guests were all in the ballroom, chatting amongst themselves and dancing to the Choir. Aaron appeared at the top of the grand staircase, his expression and smile glowing with pure Joy. The crowd below hushed, and stood waiting for Aaron to speak. He raised his hands, his curly read hair bouncing, and his ruffled sleeves rustling. His Red coat glinted in the moonlight with the satin lining. His pants proudly showing off his family colors of sliver and red. He opened his mouth to speak, and his round Moustache goatee moved with the shape of his mouth.
"My dear friends, I thank you for coming tonight to celebrate this joyous day. This morning, I awoke to find my beautiful wife already out of bed, and in the library. In her hands was the gift from above, a gift created by our love for each other. And Gift that has sat growing for 9 months, the fruit of my wife's womb, my son, Jacob!" at that moment, Madeline, with her long black hair and her bejeweled hairpiece swaying, came from behind one of the corners. Her exquisite aristocratic dress flowing with her movements, also showing the proud McCloskey colors of red and silver. In her hands was a small wrapped blanket, and she was holding it with care. She went to stick her finger near the top, and out came two small hands. "And now my friends, I present to you, my son, Jacob." said Aaron in a soft voice. The room went quiet as the sounds of Jacob's coos and other baby sounds could be heard. Aaron and Madeline descended the stairs, on the way Aaron handed Jacob back to Madeline, who took him in her arms carefully and cradled him. The guests walked slowly over to Aaron and Madeline, all wanting a chance to see the new child.
A knock came from the front door, and a servant walked over to it, opening the three story doors to a downpour of rain and lighting. Just outside was a man who had an odd body shape, but who's body was fully cloaked, and his face hidden. His long brown cloak darkened by the rain. "I am here to see the master and mistress of the household." spoke the man in a wolfish voice. The servant nodded, making a gesture for the man to follow. They walked through a long hallway decorated with suits of armor and paintings of past McCloskey family members. At the end of the hallway was the entrance to the grand ballroom where are the guests were.
"Master Aaron, Mistress Madeline, this man would like to See you-"
"-Privately..." finished the Mysterious figure. Aaron and Madeline looked at each, each wondering what this could be about. "And without the child..." spoke the man again. Madeline nodded and handed Jacob to the Queen of the land, who graciously took Jacob.
"He won't be any trouble I hope." said Madeline as she hurried to catch up to Aaron and the cloaked man. They entered through a small door into a room with a bear skin rug on the floor, and a Wolf head over a fire. The cloaked man cringed at the site of these, but took a seat in one of the chairs. Aaron and Madeline did so as well. The Fire crackling and burning behind the figure, you could not see anything to distinguish his figure. His face was shrouded in darkness under his hood, and his feet were hidden under the cloak.
"I am a druid. A druid of a not too far off land. I have come at the request of the master druid, who sensed the birth of your child." spoke the man. His voice having a deep wolfishness to it.
"This... Master druid, sensed our son's birth?" questioned Aaron. He tilted his head a little and raised an eyebrow at the man.
"Yes... It is said that a child would be born from a family with a curse, and that child will face a great evil, and rebuild the cursed family, all the while unifying Man and animal." spoke the Man.
"And you believe our Jacob... to be this Child? I don't quite understand. The only curse our family has, is that many of our relatives our dying of some unknown disease in our homeland." spoke Madeline concerned, she did not like how this conversation was going, and wanted the man to desperately leave.
"He is the one of the Prophecy, but to fulfill it, he must be raised by us druids." at that comment, all the joy in Aaron turned to rage.
"You WHAT?! You are saying that you want to take our son, our FIRST BORN SON, AWAY from here?! You sir, are sadly Mistaken!" yelled Aaron so loud that the guests in the next room could hear the conversation. Jacob began to cry, and madeline ran out of the room to tend to him.
"Sir, calm your voice. If you do not like this, you may take it up with the Master druid." spoke the man, " I can take you there tonight, and you can be back by morning at the earliest."
Aaron looked at the man with a glare. "You WILL take me to this master druid, and I will tell him personally why he cannot take Jacob." The cloaked man left in the direction of the door.
"You best get some supplies, and I hope you have a horse." said the man.
"I do, pride and joy she is." said Aaron.
"Fastest in the country." continued the King.
"Good, then hurry. Like I said, the Place is not far off." One of the maids came rushing down from the stairs with supplies, and Aaron walked out the door with the man, the rain still pouring down hard as the sun was setting. He went to the stables as the cloaked figure jumped on his horse, a Brown Stallion, with no saddle. When the man jumped on his horse however, Aaron thought he saw paws on the mans feet, instead of normal human feet. Aaron dismissed this, but got on his White Mare, and they rode of into the distance.
Ch. 2, A Curse is Born
"We are nearing our destination..." Spoke the cloaked man, "Once we reach the forest edge, we will need to leave our horses, then continue on foot."
"We have not been riding for very long, The sun has just now fully set, and you are telling me we are almost there?" asked Aaron, "At least tell me this before we arrive, what is your name?"
"My name... Is Beo Wolfe... said the man. At that point. He stopped his horse and got off. Aaron did the same, and tied his horse to a nearby tree. Beo's horse was not tied however, and went roaming off.
"Sir Beo, your horse has just escaped." said Aaron, "Why did you not tie it up?"
"He is a wild horse. I rode him for the time needed." replied Beo. "Now follow me, and do not be alarmed at what you may see..." Beo motioned for Aaron to follow, and he did so. They walked through a tall batch of bushes that blocked view to the other side, but when they got through, Aaron was stunned at what he saw. There was a town in the middle of the forest, concealed by the trees, and by some other force...
"Why is it this town is not on any map?" asked Aaron, he continued to look around, and saw families with children playing, and people shopping, but when he got a closer look, he saw what they truly were, they were not human... "What... what are you... you demon..." said Aaron shocked.
"We have kept this town secret, our existence has been a secret, since long before either of us developed a language with which we could understand each other..." said Beo, he removed his hood to reveal quite a shock to Aaron, "Now you know why I said your son would bring unity to Animals and Humans..." Beo turned around. "We ARE animals. We are animals that walk upon two legs much like you humans. We speak a language both of us understand, yet also have our own that was long ago lost to all but a select few! We are... Kadaj." said Beo Wolfe. His elongated ears alert and his Muzzle stretching out from his face. He had the distinct markings of a wolf, a timber wolf to be exact, and the teeth to prove it. However, he had eyes as white as snow, almost as if he was blind. Aaron paid no attention to the eyes though, for he could not comprehend what he was seeing. All around him were animals as tall as man, walked on two feet like man, and spoke the language of man. It was unbelievable. He saw deer children playing with their antlers, cat children playing in the trees, all kinds of animals playing and acting much like human, they even wore clothing much like man.
"Sir... Sir Beo... You said you have a language lost almost entirely to all but a few... tell me, what is this language?"
"f am i girtoite uk i vide fyif bamileiveb gurt itu. %uF070u ure sruqm qyh fyam vide bamileiveb, xof fyeh qeve fye urem qyu dveifeb fye girtoite. %uF061f am fye girtoite uk fye %uF06Buc %uF06Eoglare." spoke Beo in a strange tongue. Aaron looked at him strangely, then opened his mouth to speak.
"It is a language... of a race that... disappeared long ago.... No one knows why... this race disappeared.... but they were the ones who created the language... it is the language of the Fox... Vulpine... is that what you said?" asked Aaron. Beo Wolfe stopped abruptly, and turned around, shocked.
"You... You understood Vulpine?" He asked, "No human should know the language of Vulpine..." He said under his breath.
"Yes... I did... if the people who came up with the language disappeared, then that means... you have no foxes?"
"No, no we do not.." said Beo as he continued to walk again. They walked for a few more minutes, passing through a market square where animals were shopping as if it were daylight.
"Are... all of you night dwellers?" asked Aaron.
"No. Some of us prefer to come about at night like our primitive cousins." replied Beo, "Now come, we must enter that tower there." he pointed to a Very tall round tower. They walked up to it, and he opened the doors. Inside was very dark except for the occasional Candle lighting the way. Beo took one of the candles pre-lit at the entrance. He walked up a spiraling staircase that lead up into the balcony. Aaron followed closely behind Beo, making sure not to fall off the stairway. When they arrived at the top, it opened to a rather large room filled with Druids, and in the Center, was a frog man who appeared very aged.. He sat with his eyes closed, but moved his head in the direction of Beo Wolfe and Aaron.
"Beo, You have returned, and who is this you have brought with you? It is not the child of the prophecy, he is to old." said the Frog man, His voice booming.
"Great Master Druid, this is the father of the Child. He has a problem with our ways, and wishes to consult with you about it." said Beo bowing as if he were before a King. Aaron did the same, for fear of insulting this man.
"You brought a human here? A human who's memory is developed enough to remember this place?" said the Master druid, with anger in his voice.
"Sir, please, we can erase his memory when he leaves, just consult with him so we may get the child." said Beo. He then went off into the shadows.
"You are the father of the Child of the Prophecy, and you have come to theis sacred land to speak to me about what?"
"I... uh sir that is... I don't want you... to uh..."
"Spit it OUT!"
"I don't want you to take away my son." said Aaron. He felt scared. This whole society was secret, and this druid did not seem easily pleased. He looked to the shadows and saw Beo standing there, with his hand on his chin, deep in thought.
"He understands Vulpine... no human can understand vulpine..." thought Beo as Aaron and the Master druid held there conversation. "His family colors are Red and Silver... the colors of the Fox... is it a coincidence? I shall have to see... if he does have some sort of relation to the Foxes of legend... then his whole family could prove useful..." thought Beo. "But how to-"
"ENOUGH! You have defiled the sanctity of this place with your disgusting human smell, and all you keep saying is that you won't allow your son to be taken away, well I feel you are wrong." The master druid snapped his fingers, and two dozen druids appeared between Aaron and the master druid. He snapped his fingers again, and all but a half a dozen disappeared. "Those druids will acquire the child, while these will teach you a lesson..."
The druid opened his eyes, and they began to glow brightly. The other druids Eyes did the same, Beo just smiled in the shadows. "This will tell me if he has a connection to the- WHAT?!" Beo saw Aaron pull out his sword, on it was written, %uF074evh %uF06Buz. And then Beo saw it, under his coat was the family crest, and on it was a fox. "He doesn't just have a connection to the Foxes of legend..." thought Beo. Aaron was lifted into the air by the druids.
"%uF068uo, %uF06Dav %uF069ivur JdDgumseh, Yine bekageb fye %uF06Dirdfifh fyif am uov %uF062voab Yuje, irb yine vekomeb fu Duje fu fevjm qafy %uF061, fye Jimfev %uF062voab. Kuv fyif, %uF061 dovme huo irb huov dyagbver fu Gane i Gake im Qe bu, Im Y%uF04FJIRAIJIGM!" spoke the Master druid in Vulpine. Aaron began to change. His hair grew thicker, denser, and longer. His ears began to move up his head and grow larger, and his Nose and mouth grew elongated. His hands grew claws and his feet tore apart his shoes. As the fur began to change color, Beo noticed what was happening,
"He is a FOX!" yelled Beo, the druids stopped as Aaron's tail had fully grown. He stood with his sword in his hand, the handle feeling more natural to him now. The druids backed off, looking at him. His orange hair had grown all over him, and the master druid smiled. "His son IS the one of the prophecy! His son has the power of a Fox!" yelled the master druid, but Aaron then jumped out of one of the stained glass windows, landing on the ground below. He then began to run on all fours toward his horse, and Jumped on his horse, spooking her at first, but then riding off to the castle. The moon had risen over high, and it was still far from daybreak. The rain continued to pour even harder, but Aaron did not care, he wanted to get back to save his wife and child. Beo had run to the forest edge to try to stop Aaron, but he couldn't make it in time.
"Leave him Beo" said the master druid through Beo's mind. "We now know his son is the one of the prophecy, but it will take a little while longer, to acquire him."
Ch. 3, Escape from Chateau dela Fox.
Back at the Castle, Madeline had instructed all the serving men and Maids to refrain from opening the doors to anyone but Aaron. They did so, and all returned to their chambers, while the stable boy kept to his quarters outside. Madeline walked up the steps to the Bedroom, and placed Jacob in his crib. She began to sing a song she remembered her parents sang to her long ago when she was a baby, and sang it to Jacob. "Operor non vereor meus lectica rutilus astrum , ones of legend vadum adveho ex afar they vadum servo nos per suum vires , quod addo nos a pugna , legend ex afar of proeliator vulpes, quisnam mos servo nos ex malum." she sang in a calm manner. He voice seemed angelic and soothed the whole castle. It may have been Latin, but it was said as if it were french. Jacob was lulled to sleep by the sound of his mothers voice, but just before he fell asleep, he cooed, and Madeline turned around to see a cloaked figure in the doorway. "Wh-What are you doing here, where is my Husband?" she said as she picked Jacob back up, fearing the worst.
"Your Husband... is at a disagreement with the Master Druid." he said. He didn't have the distinct wolfish voice Beo had, so Madeline could tell this wasn't the same man. "We'll be taking the child now..." he said holding out an arm that revealed a wing. Madeline gasped at the site of the wing, It's Black feathers darker than a new moon night. The druid removed his hood to reveal the head of a Raven. "Give him to us." said the Raven.
"N-no" stuttered Madeline, she pushed past the Raven and ran for the Ballroom, calling for the servants. She got to the ballroom only to find the servants dead, and more druids. "Wh-What are all of you?" she asked, fearing for her life. None of the druids had their hoods on anymore. She could see Lions, and Deer, and Lizards, all in the room. The raven came from behind.
"We are Kadaj. Animals that walk, talk, and act like you humans. I myself am called Night Shade. The one who took your husband was Beo Wolfe." he said.
* * *
"Must... Get... to... Castle... must... save... Wife and son..." thought Aaron as he rode his horse. His eyes seemed to glow as he rode, glowing a bright green and his vision clearing. He saw the castle rising in the distance, and heard a crash of a vase, then a scream. He continued to ride his horse to the castle, and rode her into the stables. He got off as the stable boy came out.
"Master Aaron, your home ear-AH!" he screamed at the site of Aaron. "Demon!"
"Brian, it's me, Aaron. The Master druid Cursed me. Take Carol, Vince, and Meganre, and hook them up to the stage coach, then bring it to the front, me and the miss's need to get away as soon as possible." said Aaron to the Stable boy. He nodded and ran off with the White Mare. Aaron went to the doors and heard his wife's screams again. He Banged the doors open with a strength he never knew he had, a combination of the strength of a Desperate father, husband, and Fox. He saw the light from the ballroom, and the hallway was illuminated by the Lighting that flashed from outside. Aaron's teeth glowed in the flashes, along with his eyes. He pulled his sword, then ran to the ballroom, striking down any druid he saw. "Monsters!" he yelled as he struck down the one nearest the Ballroom entrance. The attention of the druids and Madeline were averted to the voice. Madeline recognized it to be Aaron's, but saw instead a Red Fox. She looked at him, then understood who he was.
"This is impossible!" yelled Night Shade, "He's a Fox of Legend!"
"You better believe it you sick wacko." growled Aaron through his teeth. He ran to the Staircase, at the top of which was Madeline and Night Shade, and struck down all the Druids in his way. Night Flew up into the air and hid in the shadows, and Aaron ran up the stairs. "Madeline, we need to get out of here. The entrance is our-" Aaron turned around to see more druids had appeared at the entrance. He looked for a way out, and saw a window at the end of a hall. "Shield Jacob's Face, and run with me." he said as he began to run to the window. "The entrance is blocked, so we need to make our own way out." he said as they neared the window. They ran at full speed, and smashed through it, it's glass shattering into a thousand pieces. They fell to the ground below, and Aaron helped Madeline out of the mud. They ran to the Stage coach which was set and ready. He helped Madeline in and turned to Brian. "Go, Now!" he yelled as he jumped in. Brian struck the whip and the horses began to gallop off. The castle grew distant as Aaron and Madeline looked back. Aaron sighed, then he noticed his fur was receding. His nose and ears were to. And his feet seemed to go normal. "So... Maybe I can shift between forms..." he said as he looked at Madeline, who was looking silent at Jacob.
Ch. 4, The Burning of Alntiem
"Aaron, Just what happened at the Master druids, and what were those men?" asked Madeline, her eyes and head still fixated on Jacob who was sleeping quietly in her arms.
"The master druid will stop at nothing to get our son. He proved it by sending those druids after you." said Aaron looking over to Madeline. "I know this is a little much for you to take in-"
"Much?! This is more than a little much. My sons life is at stake, along with our own, and your not even human anymore!" said Madeline with anger, She took one glance at Aaron, then sighed.
"I know... I may not be human, but I can still masquerade as one. Brian."
"Yes Sir?"
"Take us to Alntiem, we have friends there."
"The Millers sir?"
"Yes... the Millers." said Aaron lowering his head. "Madeline, Please, We fell in love not because of our looks, but because of our hearts. Tell me that still counts for something."
"It does," began Madeline, "I still Love you, I just need time to think. We are going to the Millers? Good. Perhaps Paige and Michelangelo can give us their guest room." she said lying her head back. For the rest of the night, The carriage was silent. An hour passed and they arrived. The town of Alntiem was small and modest, but also the closet town for miles. The carriage stopped in front of an Inn in the center of town. The sign read, "Miller Beds, Rest a Night". Aaron and Julie stepped out of the Carriage, and Brian hid it around the back. Julie and Aaron stepped inside, and were greeted By Paige, who had attended the Party for Jacob.
"Aaron, Madeline, Welcome!" said Paige arms open ready to hug them. She did so and gave them quite a squeeze, then released after she saw Jacob. "Aw, it's the little prince of the McCloskey family. What brings you guys here?" she said. Michelangelo then came out of the back with a glass and wash towel in his hand. He nodded to Aaron who nodded back, then came over to see them.
"Well, remember that man who came tonight during the party, the one Aaron left with?" Began Madeline, but Renae shushed her, and took her upstairs to one of the vacant bedrooms.
"If were gonna talk bout it's gonna be in private, what's the problem?" said Paige in a serious tone as she sat Madeline down on the bed.
"Well..."
"The man was a fucking druid. And not just any druid, he was some kind of animal druid. 'Kadaj' they called themselves, and the master druid, he was a giant toad, literally." said Aaron with his head down and eyes closed. His red hair covering his face.
"I think someone's had to much red wine, what are you talking about?" said Michelangelo raising an eyebrow.
"The man was a freaking Wolf. His name was Beo Wolfe, and he walked like a human, talked like a human, dressed like a human, but was a wolf!" exclaimed Aaron. Madeline sighed.
"And that's not all, there's more of them, all different kinds of animals, one named Night Shade, who was a raven. He's the one who attacked me in the castle." said Madeline.
Paige gasped, "Someone attacked you?! Where are they, I'll knock them one two."
"Paige sit your tiny ass down." said Michelangelo, "You guys are telling the truth? Well I want proof."
"You want proof? I am Proof. That master druid Cursed me. I'm no longer human." Aaron raised his head to reveal that his eyes had changed from their original shade of Brown, to bright green. He then looked straight at Michelangelo, as if he was looking into his soul, and began to transform much the same way he did in the tower. Michelangelo dropped the class which shattered into pieces, and Paige screamed. Aaron had shifted into a full fledged Fox that stood on two legs. "I heard Beo say that I was one of the Foxes of legend. Apparently, Foxes disappeared long ago, but they were the ones who came up with their original Language of Vulpine, which I understood clearly."
"How do I know this isn't some kind of trick?" said Michelangelo pointing to Aaron.
"We've been friends since before I can remember, and you don't trust me?" said Aaron with sad Eyes. His ears only amplified his sadness as they flopped down. Paige got up and walked over to Aaron. She held her hand out and touched his fur covered check, and stoked it carefully. "You have become a fox..." she said as she backed off. "The fur is real..."Aaron shifted back to a human again, and sat down on the bed next to Madeline. He placed his arm around her and sighed. Suddenly, a scream was heard from outside. Aaron looked out the window to see both Beo Wolfe and a raven out in the road.
"That's Night Shade, the Raven there." whispered Madeline. Michelangelo and Paige couldn't believe there eyes.
"The carriage is in back, we can fit you guys in, lets get out of here." whispered Aaron as they snuck out to the back. Once everyone was outside, Beo and Night had stormed the Inn.
"Who here has seen a man and woman with a baby running through here, answer now, and you will be spared." said Beo growling. The room was full of screams as people were in panic.
"No answer?" said Night, "Well then, maybe THIS will teach you to answer to us!" At that moment Flames erupted from Night's arms, and the Inn was engulfed. The carriage road off in time to escape the flames, but Paige began to cry.
"There there Baby, We can rebuild it, along with the town, we'll talk to the king and queen." said Michelangelo trying to comfort Paige. The carriage road off in the direction of the castle of the King and Queen, with Aaron, Madeline, Jacob, Paige, and Glyde in tow.
Ch. 5, The Enemy Of My Enemy Is My Friend, Even if they look like my Enemy.
The Queen got out of Bed and pulled back one of the Turkish curtains, and saw a bright orange glow in the distance. "Edward," began the queen, turning her head to face the king, "Do you see that?" she asked. The king came over to the window and saw the bright glow, it was far off in the distance, but very much visible.
"Yes Elizabeth, I do see it..." began the king, "It looks as if it's coming from Alntiem."
"Isn't that the town just south of the McCloskey's Castle?"
"It is."
"You don't think... that man may have..." began the Queen, but was interrupted by a servant in the doorway.
"Your Majesties, The McCloskeys and the Millers have come to the castle, shall I let them in?" spoke the man keeping a straight face.
"Yes, tell them to wait in the Dinning room, we shall see to them soon." spoke the king. He shoed the guard away and left to get into proper clothing, as did the queen.
The servant Lead Aaron, Madeline, Michelangelo and Page to the dinning room, where a rather large table was being set up by the cooks. The king and queen arrived from the other end, the king raising his arms. "Welcome my guests, why such an early visit?" he said coming over to see them.
"Does it have to do with the Orange glow coming from Alntiem?" asked the queen concerned.
"Yes... It does," began Michelangelo, "Alntiem has been burned to the ground, by a fire started in our Inn." he said lowering his head.
"And you have come to apologize and ask for assistance in rebuilding the town?" asked the King.
"They didn't start the fire, We came here to warn you of the true arsonists. Beo Wolfe and Night Shade." said Aaron with an angry tone. "That man that came during the celebration, He was Beo Wolfe, and he, nor Night Shade, were human."
"What do you mean, not Human?" asked the queen.
"And who is Night Shade?" asked the king.
"Night Shade is the One who attacked me in the castle, attempting to take Jacob with his inhuman druids." said Madeline holding Jacob tightly, she refused to let him go after what happened.
"They were druids?!" said the King, just then the head cook clanged a triangle.
"Dinner is served." he said Bowing and going off. The group sat all around the table, and Madeline and Aaron began to explain what happened to the king and queen. After an hour of eating, Explanation and questions, the table went silent, and the food was finished.
"So you say you can become one of those... Kadaj?" asked the king, "Show us then." Aaron got up, and began to walk to the courtyard with the fountain. The rest followed him, no one questioning him. Aaron sat on the edge of the fountain and began to look at his reflection. Madeline sat down next to him and looked into his eyes, Still holding Jacob.
"You are still Aaron, even if you aren't the Aaron you used to be." She said, placing one of her hands on Aaron's. He began to slowly shift, and the king and queen were shocked at the spectacle they were witnessing. When Aaron was finished, the king and queen were stumped, but Madeline just smiled.
"Th-This is wh-what they look like?" stuttered the queen. Aaron nodded, and Madeline got up. She handed Jacob to Paige, and went back to Aaron, giving him a hug. "And Like I said, You are still Aaron, just a little fuzzier." she said, kissing his lips. She got up, and looked at the Queen and King. Aaron looked back at his reflection, and then saw something falling from the sky. He looked closer, and saw it had Black Wings.
"LOOK OUT!!!" he yelled, but it was too late, Night had appeared behind Madeline and took her in his arms.
"What a lovely Prize. You've tried to escape us, but It won't work." he said. Just then, Beo came from behind some of the ornamental bushes, and he and Night began to Chant unanimously, Aaron was shocked as the were chanting in Vulpine, and he understood them even clearer.
"Gef fye kijagh xe sruqr, fyif fyume qyu bekh fye %uF062voabm uk fye yojirajigm, lih fye lvade uk xedujart i yojirajig." they said in Vulpine, and Madeline began to change much like Aaron. Her whole body becoming incased in Orange fur, but with Distinct Black hair on the top of her head.
"Another Fox?!" Yelled Beo as he stopped the chant, but Night continued. "Stop you idiot! She has too much power!" he said, just then, a cloaked figure came from over the very same bushes Beo did, and slashed at Night's back. Night let out a great caw, then flew off, Beo stood there, stunned. Then another figure whacked his back with a long Pole, and he turned around to see a female Ferret Kadaj. The cloaked figure threw off his cloak and revealed a male Ferret Kadaj, and he pointed his sword to Beo.
"Your druid ways are wrong., and we shall stop it." said the Ferret. Beo backed off and Ran off into the woods. The ferrets turned to face the king and queen, and bowed before them. "We are sorry for the Intrusion, but we followed those two since they left Nontorn, I am Reckonin." said the Male Ferret, again taking a bow.
"Nontorn?" asked Aaron tilting his head like a dog. Julie laughed at him, even though she too looked like an animal.
"Our Village, where you went." said the Female ferret. "I am Farrago, Wife of Reckonin." she said, curtsying. Aaron primed his sword at the two.
"We are not your enemies. Not all us Kadaj are like those druids, not even all the druids are like those two. Many actually believe the Master druid is being manipulated by either Night or Beo." said Reckonin sheathing his sword. Aaron released the handle of his and looked back at Madeline, they both shifted back to being humans, relived that they could.
"Well... this was a very interesting morning... Are you hungry?" asked the queen looking at Farrago and Reckonin. The King called for the guards to be positioned all around the castle, fearing that more of the druids may be lurking near. They went inside and sat down at the Dinning room table again, with more food out for Reckonin and Farrago.
"So you fight alongside your husband, instead of staying home Farrago?" asked Madeline, Who had Jacob in her hands again.
"Yes, I never liked staying home. I wanted to be with Reckonin fighting for our King." Replied Farrago.
"You have a king of your land? Why does he not stop this?" asked the King.
"Because he is no longer alive... The master druid now rules us." said Reckonin through his teeth.
"Your majesties, because our Castle is no longer safe, may we stay here in your guest rooms?" asked Madeline looking over to the king and queen.
"And may we as well? I fear we may have become outlaws in Nontorn." Asked Reckonin.
"Of course you may, all of you. We shall have the servants take you to the rooms." The king clapped his hands and three servants came to the room, they were shocked to see Farrago and Reckonin, but still tried to keep a straight face.
"Take these seven to the guests rooms. They will be staying with us for a while." said the King. The servants lead them all to there rooms, and they all got settled for what would seem like an eternity.
Ch. 6, Past Revelations
"Reckonin, would you be so kind as to accompany us to the Library, so we may learn more about your race?" asked Madeline as she stood outside the bedroom doorway of Reckonin and Farrago. Next to her was a small boy who looked four, and she showed signs of another child on the way.
"I'm sorry Lady Madeline, Reckonin is not here." replied Farrago, who came from behind one of the large changing screens, her hands attempting to put her hair up. She lowered her hands and knelt down, looking to the shy boy who clutched to Madeline. "Hello Jacob, how are you?"
"Where is Reckonin then?" asked Madeline curiously. She also could not find Her own husband either, as both had seemed to disappear.
"I believe he, Aaron, and Michelangelo left for, I believe he said, 'Training'." she said the last word while rolling her eyes, making a pretty accurate guess of what they could all be doing.
"Oh..." spoke Madeline as she lowered his head. She rubbed her hand on her stomach, smiling as she thought about their second child, growing within her.
"Do you wish to still learn something though?" asked Farrago, looking to Madeline in such a way that one could tell she was concocting a plan. "I can teach you some special abilities only you have." she said as she grabbed her staff and a book from in a dresser. Jacob looked curiously to the book, eyes twinkling.
"What are you proposing?" she asked, a little confused and scared. Whatever Farrago was planning, it did not look good.
"Simple... I teach you the power of the Fox." she said as she walked by them both. "Simply follow me to the back garden." she said as she turned her head back and winked. Madeline tilted her head, and a pair of black and orange ears popped up, accentuating her confused state of mind. She looked down and saw her son looking up to her, and then to Farrago.
"Mommy... fight?" asked Jacob as he turned his head to look back up to Madeline. Madeline shook her head.
"I do not know..." she said quietly, slowly following behind Farrago. Her ears slowly returned to normal, and Jacob ran to follow behind his mother.
"Alright, let use begin." spoke Farrago as she grasped her staff. Jacob sat over by the fountain, looking inside and playing with the running water. Madeline took a deep gulp, and simply attempted to grasp her hands into fists, which made Farrago laugh. She shook her head and held out her hand. "Look, you're a fox, your power's best accessed as a fox, not a human." Madeline gulped again, and began to concentrate, scrunching her face up as she attempted to shift. A tail popped out and her fur began to grow, but slowly. After several minutes, she took a gasp of breath and looked to Farrago with her vulpine eyes. "Good, now, hold out your hands, and simply imagine a staff, much like mine."
"But..."
"No buts," interrupted Farrago. "Simply imagine the staff, and it can be made of anything, even fire."
As Farrago said this, Madeline became fascinated by the idea of a staff made entirely of fire in her hands. Farrago began to speak of how Red Vixens seemed to have abilities that were affected by the mind. Suddenly, flames began to encase Madeline's hands, and her eyes lit up as she was shocked by the flames. "Great Caesar's ghost!" she exclaimed as the flames ran around her arms, but did not harm her. The flames formed into a staff shape, forming inches above her hands. Heat exhausted from the staff of flames, but it did not burn Madeline's hands. "How..."
"The power of a Fox." spoke Farrago as she grasped her staff again and got into position. "Simply imagine me as one of the druids, someone trying to take Ja-" Farrago jumped back. Madeline had lunged at her with the staff, attempting to attack her. The flames managed to singe some of her fur, making her look to Madeline with surprise. "I did not mean literally... but good." she said, grasping her staff tighter. They began to class with each other, fighting with each other in an attempt to teach Madeline her inner power.
* * *
"But why did you become a fox, is all I ask." spoke Michelangelo as he walked in the town with Aaron and Reckonin. People had become used to seeing Reckonin and Farrago by now, but still were wary and cautious, which was good.
"It may simply be Aaron was a fox to begin with." spoke Reckonin.
"Do you have Rum for brains?" asked Aaron as he turned around, arms held out in a look of disbelief. "How would it be that I was a fox to begin with?"
"Simple. The Foxes disappeared, remember?" spoke Reckonin as they began to walk again. "Now, your old country of Uknatia, you spoke of a plague that forced you to leave, correct?" Aaron simply nodded. "And you own a fox as a pet. Not only this, but you have many signs of the Fox on you. Your family colors, are also the colors of the Fox. Your coat of Arms, features a fox walking, and your sword..." he said as Aaron began to slowly sheath it out. "...Has the words Grey fox written on it, the Fox of legend."
"But then, why did it only come about after the curse?"
"The curse was to bring out his inner animal. Since he was a fox, then it came out."
"But how did I not know before?"
"Perhaps long ago, Foxes simply learned to live in disguise, using their advanced powers. I guess as the years passed, they simply forgot they were foxes, and the power went dormant. Your eyes show, that it has been awakened." explained Reckonin as they stopped in front of a Tavern. Aaron opened the door of the tavern and let Reckonin and Michelangelo in first. Many people in the tavern hushed down as they saw Reckonin, many beginning to whisper and most likely spread rumors. They went to an empty table and sat down, ordering rum as a barmaid came. She acted scared, most likely due to Reckonin, but once she left, Reckonin only laughed and they began their conversation again. "As I was saying, the only possible explanation, is that the power within you slept, and the curse somehow awakened the power, unintentially." he said, the barmaid coming back with the rum. Reckonin took his flask and thanked the barmaid, who made a quick curtsy and left almost immediately.
"So, what more can I do then, other than change my appearance?" asked Aaron as he took a gulp of his flask.
"Depends, really. Foxes can have any range of special ability, though, given what you described, I'd say one of them is Incredible strength." spoke Reckonin, making a reference to when Aaron was able to shove open the Chateau doors with his strength.
"So super strength, could be good." added Michelangelo, also taking a sip of rum. "But the only thing is, if Foxes are hidden as humans how can we tell if they're fox or human?"
"I do not know." Reckonin spoke. "Your family may be the only family for quite some time who actually knows of their power."
"And what about your child?" asked Michelangelo as he looked to Aaron, using his flask to point to him.
"Jacob may not discover his powers, but your next child will most likely know of their powers, as they will probably be born looking like a Fox."
Aaron nearly flipped out, spitting his rum onto the table in surprise. "WHHHAAAAAT?!" he yelled so loud the whole Tavern could hear. "I don't want my whole family to look like foxes!"
"Calm yourself Noble Aaron, your whole family will be able to change, much like you can."
"I don't care, I don't want them to be like me at all." his form slowly began to shift from his anger, the rage fueling the morph.
"Seriously Aaron, calm down. You sound like how you did when you had to leave Uknatia." joked Michelangelo, hoping to calm Aaron down.
"Wait, do you mean you to are from Uknatia as well?" asked Reckonin as he finished drinking his flask.
"Aye, I am, but I wasn't born there." he said. "Tis where I met me wife, but neither was she from that country."
"Hmm... Tell me more of this land, I wish to know about it."
"The history of Uknatia is located in my library, but we cannot regain them. However, we can ask the king and queen to send knights to retrieve as much as they can... and the Tapestry."
"The tapestry?"
"The Tapestry..." began Michelangelo, "It details a great Scene, and heralds from the oldest ages of Uknatia."
"Then we must regain it, before the Druids attempt to steal it."
"Agreed." spoke Aaron as he placed his now empty flask upon the table, "It is also one of the Greatest Treasures of my family, I wish to regain all my treasures."
Ch. 7, Corruption in Power
"I do not approve of this." spoke Queen Elizabeth as Aaron finished adjusting the armor on him. Farrago helped her husband Reckonin adjust his as well, but most of the others disapproved. Aaron took careful pride to make sure his sword was extra sharp, be it they ran into Beo Wolfe or Night Shade, he would find a very good use. "Why must you insist on going?" she asked again. "I plead you not to."
"I must, for the Tapestry may be in danger, and It must be protected." spoke Aaron as he led his helmet in one arm.
"Paige, I know you are upset, but I must help Aaron and Reckonin." spoke Michelangelo as he comforted his wife. She nodded and relished in the comfort he gave her, then broke away and nodded again.
"I understand..." she said, going off to tend to lady Madeline, who had disappeared again. Once she opened the door, Jacob came rushing through and hugged his father's leg.
"Be careful daddy..." he said as he hugged tighter. Aaron bent down to lift his son up, and smiled to him.
"I will, For I shall return, and you shall know of our family." he said as he placed hi son down. "Grr... Reckonin is Armor is heavily Awkward."
"It is designed for an Anthro, it will fit your Fox form better, like your sword." he said as he tightened his helmet atop his head. Aaron nodded and began to slowly shift into his form, which made Jacob marvel and his eyes sparkle with wonder.
"Better," he said a he stretched. "Much better."
"Let us go." spoke Reckonin as three horses came, the King leading them.
"My men will accompany you to retrieve all your treasures, and a Special carriage shall be prepared with more Knights."
"Thank you good king, you treat us to well." relied Michelangelo.
"I do what I must to keep my countrymen happy." he said holding the horses in place. Michelangelo, Reckonin, and Aaron got on and righted themselves to ride.
"Onward!" yelled Aaron as he lead the men toward the chateau, so as to retrieve the treasures. However, unaware to all of them, a figure watched from the shadows, keeping watch.
"Send word to Beo Wolfe and the Master Druid, tell him to send druids to the chateau, and begin to look for these 'treasures'."
"We near Alnteim, or what once was." came the voice of Aaron as he slowed down. The once proud township now lay in smoldering ruins. Even after all these years, embers from the town continue to smolder. Much of the land refused to be born again, and it seemed barren of life. Many of the Knights looked away in shame at the ruins, and refuse to look.
"Great savior fox..." spoke Reckonin as he looked upon the land. "It's as if all life was burned from extending into the land.
"And you may just be right..." spoke Aaron as he stopped his horse to look upon a branch of a tree that was very much alive. However, the branch that extended into the ring of Ruins looked as if it was born. Next to it, was a tree that had one whole side burnt.
"Dark flames..." replied Reckonin as he looked upon the landscape. "Eternal flames of the pet of Lucifer, the leftovers of Iblis, once they burn, nothing ever grows in the same spot again..."
Suddenly, a few of the men began to get sick and weak. "They are affecting the men, we must get out of this accursed place!" yelled Aaron as he began to ride again. The men quickly followed, so as to get out of the place.
After much longer riding, the men finally reached the towering Chateau. The Chateau was in dire need of repair, having been left the way it was since Aaron and his wife escaped from the druids. Windows began to crack from the constant melting and refreezing of the winters, the walls began to crumble as bricks withered away. "To think what has become of this place..." thought Aaron as he looked upon it with horror. To him, this was his home, the place he had come to live at for so many a year now. Instead, what was once a beautiful castle, had become a place that bordered being haunted. Dark trees blocked out many a light from the place, no sun or light reached in whatsoever, with the sole exception of a single bit of light, coming from the study. "Someone occupies the castle still, but does not wish for anyone to know his presence." he said as he pointed to the faint light.
"Yes, most mysterious. One of us should see to what is there." spoke Michelangelo.
Aaron looked up to the light and down to himself. Thoughts began to race through his mind of what he had heard, thoughts of things people had said, of what people, including himself had read.
"He is a Fox!"
"You have power beyond your comprehension."
"I can show you some of your powers."
"His son IS the child of legend."
He then closed his eyes, and began to think. All he could think, was how he wished not to be seen. He hopped off his horse, and walked to the front doors, still blasted open from that fateful night. He walked through he doorway, and the whole scene began to play in his head all over again.
"Bastards! How dare you attempt to take my so, and then curse me like so! I shall kill every one of you Demon Druids!"
He closed his eyes again, and again, wished to disappear from view. Michelangelo attempted to get down from his horse and follow Aaron, but Reckonin stopped him. The looked on in awe as Aaron simply walked right into the castle, and then, began to blend in to the tapestries and walls of the castle. He disappeared from sight.
"Where is he?" asked Michelangelo as he rubbed his eyes.
"He is still here, but we can no longer see him." Reckonin turned around to face the men. "Continue on foot, Head to the treasure hold one level down, and carry as much as you can out. Do not steal any for yourselves, return everything, and remember to keep the tapestry safe, and unharmed." he ordered to the Knights, who got off their horses and did so. One asked what he himself would do, but Reckonin replied that he would wait outside with Michelangelo for both Aaron's return, and the carriage.
Inside the castle, Aaron walked the hallowed halls, slowly and quietly. He crept up the great grand staircase in the center of the castle. Each step seemed like an eternity as he crept, making sire not to make a single sound. The deep red carpet had blood strewn about everywhere, forever staining the carpet as a grim reminder of the battle, which Aaron could now see replaying in his head, that took lace here. At the very top, feathers of a Raven rested upon the rug, both old, from when Night Shade attempted to kidnap Julie, and some new. "That wretched beast..." thought Aaron as he crept along the upper level, walking toward the study. He could hear the sounds of writing coming from the Study, someone was writing something. With each new step, the sounds increased in volume. Finally, he could grasp the edge of the doorframe, and he used it to look inside. His stealth began to subside as he looked about the corner, and he could see a druid sitting at the desk, the light of a flame by his side so he could see. This druid was Night Shade.
Aaron walked closer, creeping along as he unsheathed his sword. This was one of the druids who attacked him, and changed his wife. He stood looming over Night, his shadow towering over him. Raising his sword in his hands, he prepared to strike the druid, but...
"Please..." came the faint voice of Night. He placed the quill of his own feather into the ink, and lowered his head. "Please... stop..." Aaron stopped and seemed to freeze, out of his on will. Night was asking not to be hit?
"Why should I not strike you down now?" asked Aaron, gripping his sword tighter.
"Because... I do not wish to harm your family."
Aaron, literally, froze. This, coming from the same man who threatened his wife, this, from the same man who cursed his wife and attempted to take his son, this, was not the same man.
"I only acted as such, because the Others were in my presence. Had I been alone like I am now, I would have warned your family to get out."
"What is it that you hide your true feelings and thoughts?"
"Beo corrupts us all. He came from a past shrouded in Darkness, and rose among the ranks as a Druid. His own family, his own wife, son, and daughter, fear him. He controls the masses somehow, it is in his-"
"Eyes?" asked Aaron as he looked to Night straight in the eye. Aaron's glinted a bright green, and Night's glinted a bright amber.
"Yes... his eyes... they have no pupil, only a white color. They have no iris, only white, it is abnormal, it is foreign, it is... frightening."
* * *
"Look alive, her come the carriage." spoke Michelangelo as he pointed toward an oncoming double horsed carriage coming on to them. Many of the knights began to come out of the castle, carrying oddities found amongst the treasure. Eventually, a group of three came out, carrying the tapestry on their shoulders. "There it is..." spoke Michelangelo, as his, and Reckonin's eyes glinted at it's sight.
"Master Aaron has certainly been there a long time." spoke Michelangelo as he looked to the lighted window.
* * *
"You say Beo corrupts you all..."
"Yes," replied Night, looking down to the floor and then raising his head again. "The druids are his puppets, even the master Druid. He controls them all like a puppeteer controls his puppets."
"But you are able to tell me this... why?"
"He believes me to be his most trustworthy of friends, so he does not control me. I simply act the way I do to mislead him, but with him far enough away and no other druids near, I can tell you this safely."
"You should have done something." Aaron lifted his sword to night's face, the blade end just barely an inch away from his Beak.
"But I could not."
Aaron paused, and lowered his sword a little. Time seemed to pass for an eternity as neither of them speak, then, the sound of a horse could be heard outside. "If I let you remain at this castle, will you keep it in good condition?"
"Yes." Night nodded, "Yes I will. I will keep it so it is in good condition, but I will do you one better. I will also keep the appearance of it looking as if it is still abandon."
"Good." replied Aaron as he began to turn about. Just before leaving the doorway, he stopped, and glanced back to Night. "This changes nothing. I still hate every one of you druids, and will find a way to rid myself of all of you."
"I never expected it would, but you have a right to feel this way, and I expect it." replied Night as Aaron continued on his way.
Soon, Aaron arrived back at the front doors, just as Michelangelo and Reckonin were tying down the last of the treasures. They looked to see him, and all three smiled, but Aaron only did a half smile. Michelangelo and Reckonin could tell something was wrong, but they could not tell what, exactly. Aaron just silently mounted his horse, and righted himself. Then, he snapped the reigns, and rode off to the King and Queens castle, The rest following in tow.
Ch. 8, The Prophecy
The Ballroom in the King's castle was large and exquisite. Stained glass windows let in light that made it rival what would be the modern day Notre Dame Cathedral. The doors of the ballroom blasted opened as the king walked in, Numerous knights following him. Aaron, Michelangelo, and Reckonin carried a large, rolled up tapestry on their shoulders and walked inside. "Over there, the wall has been specially prepared." spoke the king, pointing to a barren spot on the wall.
"It's not big enough, we'll need the whole floor." spoke Aaron as he, Michelangelo, and Reckonin placed the tapestry on the floor, and walking backwards, unrolled it upon the floor. Beautiful exquisite colors and vibrant weaving glimmered with golden threads as the tapestry unraveled. The tapestry proved very long, extending from the doors of the entranceway, to the grand ballroom staircase on the opposite side. Once it was unraveled, everyone gathered around to look upon the Tapestry. Reckonin bent down upon his knees to look closer.
"It details entire history... Here, starting with the war between the angels and the demons." he said, pointing to what looked like an Angel wielding a sword and a Demon looking to strike with claws. "It... details everything..." he said as he looked upon it.
"Wait, what is this?" spoke Madeline, pointing to a specific part of the Tapestry. In the weaved strings and threads of the tapestry, were ancient text written in Thread that was dipped in blood. It began on one end, and went to the other, jumping about on the tapestry, but detailing a full story.
"It's the language of the Fox, Vulpine, written in it's purist form." spoke Farrago as she began to read, but she failed to understand it. "Reckonin, can you-"
"I understand it..." spoke Aaron as he looked upon the lettering. To him, they seemed written in English, easily readable. "It's... A prophecy!"
He looked upon it with Awe and wonder, the words going through his head and detailing a prophecy, long and detailed, but rich in history. "I... Think I can read it..."
"During the times of joy and happiness, when man and beast sing to the flowers, and the sin sings to them all, A dark cloud shall arise in the sky. Forever the cloud shall grow, engulfing the sunlight, engulfing the warmth, Engulfing all hope of survival. The clouds shall rain down the blood of the innocence, creating a crimson sheet that shall block all view. With each drop of blood, people shall change. The rain shall bring forth the true form of people, the evil inside them manifesting into a physical form. Forever the world shall be changed, forever the world will have changed, and a new world shall come forth.
But from the ashes of the Phoenix, shall arise a Warrior. He will learn to balance his good, and balance his evil. Inside him are the souls of an Angel and the souls of a Demon. The warrior, with clothes as dark as night, and fur as grey as stone. In his eyes, is the solution to all, in his eyes, are the root to the end, and the birth of the beginning. The Warrior will be born, from a father with a curse, and a mother with the spirit of a warrior."
Aaron paused before reading the last part, and took a deep gulp. "The son will kill his father, marry an Angel, and die by the hands of his enemy, but his death will bring the world to a peace." He paused and read it again, "The son will kill his father..."
"Jacob would never kill you." spoke Madeline as she looked to Aaron, authority in her voice. Jacob still huddled close to his mother's leg, clutching it with his tiny hands.
"I want to believe you Madeline... but everything else has happened... On the night of our celebrations, dark clouds clouded the sky... The blood of our servants rained everywhere... and... we have changed..."
"Daddy..." spoke Jacob, looking to his father with his large, hazel colored eyes. "I won't hurt you... I'll never hurt you..."
Aaron turned around to look at his son, his bright green eyes reflecting his Jacob's dark hazel eyes. Suddenly, Madeline began to wheeze, and looked to them both. "I think it's coming.." she said as she held her stomach. Aaron got up and ran to his wife, who began to get weak. With the help of Michelangelo and Reckonin, they got her to a bedroom, and Farrago helped to successfully deliver they're new child... but...
"What's going on!!!!" yelled Aaron to the heavens as he looked to his new Daughter. She was born in the form of a Fox, not a human. He looked to her with Anger. "Someone Explain, NOW!" he yelled.
"She will change with age into a human, because your powers were active, she was born with her powers active, so she will change.
Aaron stormed out of the room, and Farrago handed the new baby girl to her mother, who held her close. "Delilah..."
"A good name." suggested Reckonin as he looked at the child, smiling.
Ch. 9, Jealous Feelings
"But it just isn't fair Father!" Jacob clenched his fist and pulled his arm closer to him.
"I don't care. You are not going to contact Night in an attempt to make you like us, nor will you fight with us in the battles." retorted Aaron.
"But Father-"
"But Nothing! You will stay in this castle and tend to your mother and sister. That is what I say, and what I say is final word."
"It's not final word to the king." grumbled Jacob.
"But it is to you. Now, Go." replied Aaron, walking off, his long black cape following his movements. Jacob turned around and began to curse under his breathe, and, in one final fit of defiance, thrusted his hand into the family armor. His father's voice could be heard yelling at him as the armor collapsed, but Jacob did not care. He was 15, he had every right to join his father in the battles, and he had every right to be like the family and become a fox. He stormed off into the long hallway.
Aaron walked out into the courtyard to see his wife and daughter in the yard, his daughter skipping about and humming a tune. He smiled at them. His daughter then ran over and gave him a large hug. "We're going to try to liberate another Kadaj city, this one has a lot of druid force behind it though, and it is very close to Nontorn."
Madeline walked over and gave him a kiss on the cheek, then smiled. "Do be careful, will you?" she said, looking to him.
"I always am." he said before heading off, his cape again trailing behind him.
"Do try to tighten your broach as well!" spoke Madeline as he walked off. She turned and then saw her son, standing in the doorway, his raggedy black hair atop his head partially hiding his eyes and making him angrier. His mother frowned upon him and looked away, heading to her daughter. She stopped her skipping and looked to her brother, her bright green eyes glimmering.
"It's not fair."
"But your father knows best, and the Druids will stop at nothing to gain you." replied Madeline.
"But the prophecy is false! It does not involve me, for I have not been raised by animals."
"It does not matter, Beo has proven to us he cares not of the prophecy, and now wishes to gain you no matter what."
"But then I should be allowed to fight him!"
"No, you will not."
"I should at least be like you."
"For heavens sake no."
"I'd listen to your father." spoke Reckonin, coming in with Farrago walking right next to him. "He's a great warrior and a loving father. He does this to protect you, believe it or not."
"What do you know?!"
"I know I have seen him raise you since you were in diapers." replied Reckonin. "And that many of those Diapers My wife and I changed with our own hands."
"It's still unfair." said Jacob turning to leave. However, his sister hugged his leg close. Looking down, she saw she had a wide smile on her.
"Brother I like you the way you are." she said, hugging as tight as she could. "And I no want you to change."
Jacob lowered his head, and when his sister finally let go, he continued walking off, for the rest of the day.
However, he didn't remain in the castle as his family had wished, and, in fact, had left the castle, borrowing a horse from the stables and riding off to the old Chateau his family once lived in. It took him a bit of the night to get there, as he specifically avoided the Area that once held Alntiem, knowing the curse that had befallen that place. Once he arrived to the chateau, he saw the very place that Night had occupied, the study. It didn't take long fro him to get there, and once he had, Night was still sitting at the table, writing. "Ah, Dear McCloskey, it is good to see you again. Why have you come?" he turned around and saw Jacob in the doorway, then gasped. "Y-Young Jacob... Wh-Why are you here?" he asked.
"I want to know my true self..." he replied, walking closer. "I want to see if I truly am the child with the fur as grey as stone."
"I-I-I-I cannot do this, your father would surely kill me if I did."
"And I will kill you if you don't."
"I cannot, I am sorry." he said, pushing up against the table and knocking over the ink and Lamp. It fell to the floor and began to burn the room.
"Show me... or I'll leave you to burn." he said, pulling out a sword. But this show was futile. Night held out his hands and absorbed the flames into him, leaving only minor burn marks in the room.
"I will not." spoke Night with vigor and confidence.
"But I will." spoke another voice, a voice with a dark wolfish tone to it. Jacob turned around and saw the figure of Beo Wolfe, older, and much more raggedy. Magic was literally emanating off of him, and strands of it began to touch Jacob, circling about him. Beo Spoke clearly in vulpine, with dark voices echoing as he spoke. "Qafy fye luqev uk fye bivs kgije xeyarb je, A dovme huo, im A yine dovmeb huov kifyev, irb huov jufyev. Xof qyage A urgh dyirteb huov jufyev irb kifyev, A dyirte huo juve. A dovme huo kuvenev fu xe i Biejur!" the strands began to encircle Jacob, encasing his body in magic.
"Ruf Mu Kimf." spoke Jacob in pure vulpine, a multitude of voices echoing behind him, all angelic. A glow began to emanate from where his eyes were. Where there was once brown eyes, now there were white. "I dovme am urgh im tuub im fye levmur xeart dovmeb. A qagg ruf igguq fye dovme fu dyirte je arfu irhfyart ufyev fyir qyif A fvogh ij, A qagg xeduje qyif A igqihm Qim."
As the magic began to recede, Jacob was no loner Jacob. He was, in essence, still Jacob, but now, he had changed. His eyes glowed bright white, and a pair of grey furred ears now rested atop his head. His head had become the form of a Fox head, his hair now stretching down his back and a silvery grey in color.
"It cannot be..." Night's eyes were wider than one might think possible, his pupils reduced in size as he saw Jacob.
"But it is... I was right... I... was... RIGHT!" Beo smiled a great evil smile. The boy he had tried to acquire so long, was what he had thought it was. He was the child of legend, or at least, he was in his eyes. "Now to prove it! Bring the animals and humans to peace!"
"You had the chance to." spoke Jacob, his eye color receding to reveal a bluish white eye. "But you gave hope of peace up long ago, simply for your own needs." He began to walk forward, and simply pushed Beo out of the way. Beo fell to the floor, and looked to Jacob, mouth agap, as he began to shift back into a human.
"Fox with the fur as grey as Stone..." spoke both night and Beo in unison, but then, Beo turned to look back to Night, his anger visible. "I'll deal with you later, traitor." he said as he got up and ran out the door.
"This won't end well..." spoke Night as he stood in the room with burns that would never go away.
Outside of the Chateau, Jacob was riding in the night off to the castle, whilst Beo hopped on his horse and rode off to Alntiem, in hopes of gathering Druid followers. Night was watching as both rode off, seeing the scene that would unfold. "This most definitely end well... Now that Beo believes Young Jacob is in fact the One of legend... He will stop at nothing to fulfill the prophecy... even killing the father himself..."
Ch. 10, End of Time, End of life
Jacob rode into the castle stables to find Reckonin and Farrago standing there waiting. He hoped off his horse and looked to them, he could see in their eyes they knew what happened. "The druids will be here soon, and they will come in numbers. I would rally the guards and townsmen in preparation."
"You know now don't you?" asked Farrago, her face showing some concern.
"I know that you two did not come here of your own choice." He replied.
"True, but we weren't with the druids as we said." Reckonin looked to Jacob with the look his father would most likely give him. Jacob said no word in reply and simply walked by, heading to where he knew his father would be. His father never left. If Reckonin was here, he did not leave.
"Father!" commanded Jacob as he entered the grand staircase inside the castle, knowing his father would hear him. Aaron did hear him, and was quite surprised by the tone of his voice.
"Sounds as if Jacob is taking charge." he said to his wife and daughter as he left the room, heading to the grand staircase. Another call for him came, and he began to walk faster. "Who calls, Jacob?" he asked as he came into the room. He looked down to see Jacob at the bottom floor.
"The Druids will be here soon, I went on a night ride and Beo intercepted me."
"I am glad you are telling me the truth, but it is not the full truth."
"That's because I also went to the Chateau, and I was cursed."
Aaron stood there, not moving, not even his face moving. He was thinking, he was angry at his son for disobeying him, but he could tell his son had matured in a way, and was glad for this. "Find Reckonin and Farrago, tell them to head to the nearest liberated Kadaj cities. I will find Michelangelo and gather the human army."
"What about his Majesty Edward?"
"I will find him." Aaron departed from the staircase and left to find Michelangelo, while Jacob went back to the stables. This could very well be the beginning of the end for them, and everyone knew it.
Jacob arrived at the stables the same time Aaron found Michelangelo and His Majesty. Both began to explain the situation to them, making sure not to leave out any details. Reckonin immediately left for the nearest Kadaj city, as did Farrago, Michelangelo left to rally the townspeople while His majesty summoned his army. Madeline and Delilah began to cast some magic to protect the castle as best they could, to prepare for anything.
Beo arrived at the Tower of druids in time to find the majority in the Master Druids lair. He summoned them together and gave them the news that now was the time, and that the Child of legend would join their side, by force. The Master Druid smiled and spoke, saying he would stay here, but help them in spirit. Cheers came as they gathered weapons for battle.
"Ready men?" commanded Aaron, his black cloak fluttering in the wind beside him. The Army hollered back to him, signifying they were ready as ever. Aaron turned to his friends and smiled, and they smiled back. "We are ready." he said as he left for the front of the group, awaiting the oncoming battle. They had planned this as quickly as they could, and decided on the plan.
Michelangelo would meet the druids first at the town gates, along with the townsfolk to hold off the druids, and thin their numbers. Afterwards The rest of them would meet them when the druids went for the castle. Jacob and Aaron would take on Beo whilst the rest of the men took on the other druids.
Of course, not all plans go accordingly.
The druids did not come by horseback, instead, they instantly teleported into the town by way of the Master Druid. A Lion druid came up behind them and slashed at the back at one of the townsfolk with a sword, which triggered the alert. The townsfolk turned round and began to attack, some firing from above with arrows, some on the ground in the midst of the fray. The bloody massacre that ensued tainted the land of the town, blood after blood falling, limb after limb getting chopped off. Such brutal slaughter proved fatal for the townsfolk more than the druids, especially when One of the druids started a fire.
It raged and raged, burning faster than any fire normally would. The amber light given off was burning through the castle town much in the same way it burned Alntiem so long ago. From the castle tower, Queen Elizabeth looked out with horror. "It's like a sun rising in the night..." she said, looking around to Aaron and Jacob behind her.
"Keep Battling! Let no druid stand Alive!" yelled Michelangelo, pointing to the druids. He pulled a small stiletto dagger out of a sheath on his side, and threw it into the fray, hitting his mark right in the head of a cat druid. It fell instantly, blood dripping from the wound. Michelangelo dove down from the hay cart he stood upon and ran into the fray. As he ran, he swooped his arm down to grab the dagger, and, once grasping it, pulled it out and up, forcing it into the arm of a Lizard Anthro. He pulled it out again, and whacked it's head with the back of his sword, knocking him to the ground and stepping on his head, ending it's life.
The battle raged for hours, Druids loosing little, townsfolk loosing much. Michelangelo was in the center of the action, dashing and dodging blows while dealing his own. That is, until Beo arrived on the scene. He walked through, unable t be touched as the magic emanating off of him killed all who attempted. Michelangelo attempted to get to Beo after killing another wolf anthro, but found himself getting picked up by an invisible force. Beo turned to face Michelangelo, and held out his fist, making it like he was squeezing Michelangelo's body. He squeezed harder, and Michelangelo struggled harder, but to no avail.
Until Reckonin came to the scene. He slashed at Beo's back with a single sword, much like he had done with Nigh, but it did nothing. The robe cut and the sword made contact, but the skin slowly began to heal. It did prove to make him release Michelangelo, his body falling to the ground and falling unconscious. Beo turned to Face Reckonin, and blasted him against a burning wall with an invisible force, the same force he used to hold Michelangelo. Reckonin broke the wall as he slammed through, landing in the flames of the building. His fur began to catch fire, and Reckonin attempted to get up, but found himself being held down by The force emanating off of Beo. He was being burned alive by Beo, and he could not stop himself from burning...
The druids began their march toward the castle, fire in their eyes. Beo walked in the front, leaving the broke army of townsfolk behind them. Such destruction could never have been done by a simple army, but this was no army, and these were no simple druids.
"Get ready men!" ordered Aaron as he stood behind the army in the castle, but they would never fight outside the castle. For as the druids came closer, they began to teleport away from view. In fact, they were teleporting into the castle. "NO!" bellowed Aaron as he ran in to the castle. The army followed behind him into the castle, breaking off into smaller groups as they went in. Aaron met up with Jacob and began to shift into their fox forms, running faster and on all forms. "So you really are the one with fur as grey as stone." spoke Aaron as he ran with his son.
"I'm one of them." spoke Jacob as they ran toward the inner chambers.
Inside the Central chambers rested, directly in the middle, a Grand Ballroom
Type room that had found no use since Aaron had arrived all those years ago. However, tonight, it would have a use, a use that would prove much more morbid than any other. For inside the room, waited Beo Wolfe, with an army of Druids by his side.
Inside the Tower of the Druids, the Master Druid sat, his breathing raspy and slim. His old age was finally catching up to him, and now he was finally ready. But, before he could go, he had one more thing to do, which is why he summoned the only Druid left to his side. Out of the shadows, came Night, head held low and eyes with regret. "Night..." spoke the Master Druid, holding out his shaky hand. "My most trusted Druid..."
"I thought Beo was your most Trusted." spoke Night as he went closer.
"He only made me say that, but I never truly meant it. Night, you know the truth, a truth, not even I knew, until I saw Beo before he left. I saw him for who he truly was," The Master Druid let out a couple of loud, deafening coughs, "But you saw this, long ago." he let out another cough, "Night.. You must... stop him... with my power..." the Master Druid opened his eyes to reveal their glowing white power, and soon the power began to fade as it took residence in it's new home, Night. "Use... my Power... and... stop Beo... before... he kills... the child..." The Master Druid let out one last breath, and his eyes shut. He had moved on, leaving this world for the next, and Night, his eyes now glowing white like the Master's had only seconds ago, nodded, fading into the wind like Dust to a windstorm.
Aaron blasted open the great golden doors with the same force he used on the doors of his chateau when he had to save his son and wife, causing a thunderous boom and alerting the whole ballroom to his presence. Beo turned to See Aaron and his son in the doorway, swords drawn and battle ready. Beo began to laugh a menacing, Maniacal laugh. "Oh how I knew you two would come here, but I'm afraid I can't stay. But, I leave you with a gift..." he said as he teleported away and left the Army of Druids to deal with Aaron and Jacob.
A tower of flames erupted in the midst of one of the tower tops. Out of it, walked Beo, his evil figure now disfigured and matted. His white eyes no longer shown, now, they bled, blood red inside the white of the eyes. He looked upon the three frightened figures of Farrago, Madeline, and Darla. Darla and Madeline cowered in a corner, while Farrago, though frightened, stood guard between Them and Beo. "You dare to try and keep me from them?" he said in a twisted voice. Streams of magic emanated off of him in Red and Black, and began to encroach to Madeline and Darla. Farrago slammed her staff against the ground and attempted to hold off the mass of magic, but could not.
Aaron and Jacob stood back to back, the druids around them closing in. "This could be it..." spoke Jacob as he looked to the Druids.
"No, It's not it. We will fight and we will win. We will fight with Valor an Honor." retorted Aaron as his eyes began to glow. Jacob turned his head to look to him, wonder and amazement in his eyes.
"Your Right... This isn't the end... we fight... with Valor, and Honor..." his eyes too began to glow, and soon their whole body glowed, Aaron's green, Jacob's white. They charged into the druids and began to slice back and forth, cutting arms off, decapitating heads. The Ballroom was becoming a bloody mess, and neither Aaron Nor Jacob could not be harmed. But, almost as soon as it started, it ended, as lighting struck each of the druids. Aaron and Jacob turned to See Night Standing at the Ballroom doorway, eyes glowing white with no pupil.
"You have bigger worries." he said, "Your wife and daughter are in trouble. Charge at me, and you will charge at Beo." he said as his eyes flashed. Aaron and Jacob charged toward him, and the room changed to the tower room. Jacob tackled Beo through a window and down to the ramparts below, Leaving Aaron in the Tower room to check on his wife and Daughter.
"Are you alright?!" asked Aaron frantically as he bent down on one knee so he could be at eye level with his daughter. She frantically shook her head, fear in her eyes as she cowered tightly. Aaron hugged her tightly and breathed deeply. "I'll always protect you, nothing will ever harm you." He released his bear hug grip and looked up to his wife and Farrago, "Protect her." he said, his eyes glowing brighter than normal and his fir beginning to brighten. "Protect her, with your life." he said as he got up and jumped out the very same window Beo and Jacob fell through.
"I hope your ready to die." Jacob said atop of Beo as they fell down from the tower. They wrestled in the air, the fall seeming to never end. However, it did, and they both fell to the ramaprts, and through the ramparts, to a burning section of the castle. The druids had begun the arsonist ways again, and the castle was ablaze. Dust flew as The two landed against the hard ground, but neither had been scathed.
"You were saying about dieing?" sneered Beo as he kicked Jacob off of him and lifted himself up. He held out his hand beside him, the magic emanating off of him starting to form in his hands into a strange shape, the shape of a Serrated blade. Once it became physical, he grasped it and swung it with great speed in front of him, Dark magic streaming off of it. "How about we end this, Right here and NOW!" he commanded with speed and conviction in his voice, as well as corruption.
"Not without me!" Beo and Jacob looked up to see Aaron coming down upon them. He landed on his feet, and knelt down to absorb the shock of landing. He rose up and looked straight into Beo's Evil, corrupted eyes. "You have been a plague on my family from the beginning, you brought forth my inner self, you attempted to steal my son, you burnt down the village I visit, And now you burn down the castle of the King and Queen. You sir, have no good in you, you are only pure evil."
Beo laughed manically, his voice booming and echoing, the whole castle shaking and reverberating. A dark figure could be seen forming behind Beo. It loomed over him, like a shadow, which it was. It was a Shadow, the Shadow of what Beo was truly. It's eyes glared into Aaron, glowing bright green, much like Aaron's. Aaron growled at Beo and the Shadow, as did Jacob, their fur bristling and standing on end. "Yes, I am pure evil." spoke Beo and the shadow in one the shadow's voice darker than darkness itself. "I am the fear that manifests in peoples hearts, I am the evil that boils to the surface, I am the wrong that pushes right."
"And you are what I will defeat." Aaron grasped his sword and brought it forth. He held it in front of him, ready to strike at Beo, but Beo only snickered. Around the three, flames danced about, burning everything they touched. This scene, it seemed like they were fighting in hell, the flames around them, The evil in front of them, it was inevitable. Beo charged forward with great speed, swiping at Aaron, but Aaron easily dodged this. Then, Beo leapt into the air, leaping upside down over Jacob in an attempt to strike him. Jacob however parried the oncoming sweep and pushed Beo further into the air, which gave him the height he needed to flip up straight and land on his feet. He did so, landing on one knee with a hand to the ground, and lifted his head to look at Aaron and Jacob. His face showed pure evil, with the ego filled smile and Darkness filled eyes, Beo was beyond saving. He ran up to Jacob and Swept his sword upward, dealing a blow to Jacob, who turned about and fell to the ground, blood from his wound pouring onto the ground.
Aaron was enraged. He took his sword and swept it first over his head, and then down upon Beo. Beo parried the oncoming attack, and threw it back. Aaron staggered backwards before he tried again, throwing himself at Beo and attempting to thrust his sword at him. Beo dodged this though, and laughed.
Jacob, meanwhile, got up and grasped his sword tighter. When his father had missed, Jacob saw an opening. He Ran to Beo, sword held high, and swept downward. Beo turned about, and Jacob's sword made contact. It struck him right in the face, right over one of his eyes. Beo let loose a blood curdling howl as he stumbled back, holding his face. Blood could be seen gushing from his fresh wound, and when he lowered his hands, a great gash left a mark over Beo's right eye. Blood poured out of the wound like a fountain, but it did not make Beo falter. He continued again by throwing himself into the air, and coming down upon both Aaron and Jacob. His egomaniac smile was now replaced by a angry smile, teeth barred and Rage in his eyes. He came upon the ground with great force, kicking up smoke and knocking Aaron and Jacob onto the ground. Immediately Beo got back up from his kneeling position and looked to Jacob, the one who gave him the new scar. However Aaron had gotten up just as fast as Beo and was no rushing toward him, sword at the ready. He struck at Beo's back and managed to make Beo let out another blood curdling howl.
"That's IT!" Bellowed Beo, his voice able to knock Aaron back again. He let his sword dissipate and lowered his head, bringing his arms into an X-formation in front of him. The X began to glow as he began to speak in Pure Vulpine. "Bivsremm Ejluqev je Tane je mfvertfy, Tane je fye luqev fu dvomy fyeme keexge kuugm irb bemfvuh igg fyif fyeh gune, tane je fye mfvertfy fu diome tveif dyium irb beify, tane je huov luqev!"
Beo in a split second threw his arms out beside him, keeping them outstretched and throwing his head out to look up to the sky. Dark Magic emanated even stronger off of him. "NO!" cried Jacob and Aaron together, getting up and attempting to stop Beo, but finding him protected by a dark barrier.
"Bivsremm tvirf je huov mfvertfy, tvirf je huov luqev, tvirf je huov mleeb, tvirf je huov xeart. Bivsremm A ukkev jhmegk fu xeduje ure qafy huo, A ukkev jhmegk fu xe huov nemmeg arfu fyam quvgb!"
The dark shadow that once before had shown behind Beo, shot upward, coning from Beo's Mouth and Eyes. It spiraled about in the air and broke through the roof and flames, rising into the sky. The shadow blocked out all light save for the flames of the castle, and loomed over it like a mother looms over a daughter. The Evil laughter could be heard from the great mass of darkness as it reached it's full potential. Everyone for miles could see the great shadow with the Bright Green eyes.
One of the thousands who saw the shadow, however, knew how to stop it. Or, at least, knew WHO could stop it. "Master Druid I am very sorry, but your power has no use with me as it's vessel. You held the power to stop the darkness that was held within Beo, and you gave to me, but I can do nothing to stop this. I must give this power to another, the one who can stop this, The child of Legend."
Night took a deep breathe, closing his eyes tightly. He thought about the one who could stop this, and knew how he could only top this with his power. He opened his eyes, and the light within him flew out of his body, heading to it's true home.
The dark mass continued to laugh evilly as it took the form of Beo covered by Darkness. "Bow Before me, I am your God now!" The Mass of Darkness swept it's hand t one of the castle towers, and knocked it down to rubble with one blow. However, as it retracted it's arm, the light began to encircle the Arm. "What?!" The Light continued to circle the arm, and soon, encircled his whole body, heading for the ground he stood upon.
Aaron and Jacob could do nothing but stare. Aaron fell to his knees, looking to what he believed to be his defeat. There was nothing that could defeat that. "NO... We're all doomed... lost... We're... we're gonna die... I... can't protect you anymore Delilah..."
"Don't talk like that Father!" Screamed Jacob as he slapped his father's face. "We can stop this, We can!"
"But how Jacob?"
"I don't know, But I know we can stop it! We just to think!"
"It's useless..."
"Father!"
"It's Useless!"
"NO! I WON'T GIVE IN!"
Jacob's eyes glowed a white not thought possible, and the Light that encircled The Darkness headed to Jacob with speed and ferocity. Like a bullet, the Light struck Jacob and infused within him, covering his body in white fur. His armor became as white as the heavens, and his hair atop his head changed to a golden blonde. Opening his eyes, he revealed the eyes of an Angel. A Mass of white began to bubble on his back, shooting out into a pair of large, gorgeous wings. His sword, still in his hand, became pure white in color, with a second forming in his other hand.
"What?" spoke Aaron as he looked upon his son. He could not believe his own eyes. His son, the child he swore his life to protecting, was about to turn the tables, and protect everyone else.
"Impossible!!!" bellowed the shadow as it shielded it's eyes from the light. Jacob spread his wings and shot into the sky, heading straight to the face of the Shadow.
"Very possible." Jacob's voice was Angelic, and seemed to echo. He held his swords in front of him, and cross-sliced The face of the shadow with his swords, leaving a very large scar across it's face. The shadow let out a blood curdling screech as it backed away. Jacob took his sword in one and, the other against his chest, and flew toward the Shadow's chest. He flew in circles about the shadow, his sword cutting a deep, spiral gash that lead down to it's groin. The shadow flailed about and backed away more, black liquid the equivalent of blood rushing from the wounds made by Jacob.
Jacob stopped in front of the Shadow one last time, and looked upon it's mangled face. Light facing Darkness. This Shadow represented all the harm that had come over the years to the McCloskey family. The Plague in their homeland, the Attempt at kidnapping Jacob, Driving them out of their home, The Burning of Alntiem, the cursing of their members, this, all of it. Jacob, represented the light to come, the good to come to the family, but only after the shadow was defeated.
"Light burns away the shadow, and I will burn you away." spoke Jacob as he readied himself to strike. "AWAY!" Jacob flew straight into and through the Shadow, creating a massive hole in the shadow. The sound made by the shadow could be heard for miles, the sound of death, the sound of end, the sound of pain, it was too great. The shadow wailed and began to fizzle away into the smoke it was. The dark smoke rose into the sky, and fused with the clouds. Thunderstorms began to roar as rain poured down upon the castle and town.
The rain was pure, falling upon the dancing flames and extinguishing them. Survivors of the bloody war looked up to the sky in amazement. After all that had happened, This rain seemed like a miracle to the land, it's life giving waters extinguishing the death dealing flames. Such beauty, such amazement, such wonder, it was a sight one could only imagine by seeing it.
Jacob floated down to where his father was, and extended his hand. There was no way his father in his now frail state could get out of the pit he was in now. "Heh... guess my age finally caught up with me..." he said as he slowly shifted back into a human and grasped his son's hand. Jacob lifted him up and took him to the tower where Madeline and Delilah resided, along with Farrago. He flew onto the tower, the top of which had been knocked off by the Shadow, and landed upon it. Jacob then fell to his knees and began to breathe heavy. He took one deep screechy breath and found himself back in his normal human form, but his eyes still glowing white. He blinked a few times, realizing what had just happened, and closed his eyes. He began to smile and chuckle. Soon, that chuckle burst into full fledged laughter. "HAHA! I told You! I told you there was A Way! Take that Father! Woo! See ya later Beo! Good times Ahead!"
Aaron face palmed himself and shook his head. "Oh Jacob..."
Epilogue
"Your magic Mastery is amazing Jacob, I'm quite surprised." Night got up from the floor and breathed heavily, but smiled. He looked on to an older Jacob, who smiled while holding two swords. "So, I believe you are ready."
"I do too, but I wish to wait for my family." spoke Jacob, letting his swords disappear. He walked over to Night and helped him fully get up, and smiled to his teacher.
"You have every right to." said Night as he patted Jacob's back. "Your family is important to you."
"Speaking of Family, what about Beo's family?"
"We found the wife, who was little more than a beggar woman with a single pup."
"Ah, a sad sight. She is doing well though?"
"Very." Night opened one of the doors, leading to a large, circular room. Inside, waited the McCloskey Family, older, and another son with them, barely three. Aaron and Madeline had become old and Frail, no longer able to fight. They continued to move around, but that was all. Delilah got up at seeing Jacob, walking over and giving him a friendly family hug.
"So, how is training?" she asked as she let go of the hug holding Jacob in front of her.
"It's well, but I more have a question for you guys..."
"It's about what's gonna happen to the world isn't it?" asked Michelangelo, coming from around a corner with his wife by his side. Reckonin and Farrago were also behind them.
"Yes... We have to cast a large scale spell, and it will wipe the memory of many of you." Jacob began to explain what would happen...
The spell would erase Ukanatia from all people's memories except for the McCloskeys, and all that happened would be forgotten by those except the McCloskey. Jacob would be forgotten by his family, as he would go to live in Uknatia.
"But what's gonna happen to the land?" asked Paige.
"It will be in it's own world, a world only of Kadaj." replied Night. "Because Beo was beaten, Jacob will be safe, and the land will be fine." reassured Night.
"But... what if we want to see you?" asked Madeline, holding her newborn son in her hands.
"You won't remember me."
The room went quiet rather quickly, everyone hushing down at Jacob's comment. Not a single head looked to another, eyes looking to the floor. No one would remember Jacob? Any of this? How could they live on though?
"Well, I think you've proved to be mature enough." Aaron looked up to his son with the eyes of a proud father, a single tear rolling down his cheek. Joy and warmth filled him, and radiated out of his eyes.
"Father..." Jacob could not say anything more. He could see all that there was to see in his father's eyes. Soon, others began to lift there heads, each one smiling, and tears rolling down their cheeks. Jacob closed his eyes and breathed deeply, knowing they were happy with who he had become, and what would soon become.
"There will still be a way to come to the land, but It must be kept a secret, locked away in your hearts." began Jacob.
"You must take every detail with you, and as your family grows, split the key amongst the family. Every member must retain a single piece of the full puzzle." Finished Night.
"But, why would we need to do so?" asked Delilah.
"Because Beo may one day attempt to rise again, attempt to rise in the future. If he does so, we need your family to be ready to prove themselves." Night said.
Everyone looked to one another, mixed feelings on everyone's faces. Feelings of Worry, regret, anger, and rage. Feelings of deceit, defeat, catastrophe, and destruction. No one could know exactly what to say, exactly what to do. Beo could arise in the future? How? Why is it possible? Is he not dead?
"Very Well."
Aaron spoke for all of them. Nobody denied the fact that they wanted everything to be ok, but they knew, should Beo rise again, someone would need to defeat him, and that someone, should be able to handle themselves. Everyone began to nod their head, agreeing that this was the best. Besides, they could not think of anything better.
The day dragged long as the McCloskeys were escorted back to their Chateau, With all but Jacob. Night explained to them on the way what they must do, and how they must do it. He explained of how the person would prove themselves, and how the Chateau would be relocated in the future, and it would remain exactly the same.
Once there, night bowed farewell to them, and flew off to the Tower of the Druids. Madeline, Aaron, and their children waited at the castle door, and as Night flew, streams of multicolored magic flew in the opposite direction, covering the skies. The magic began to rain down upon the land, Everything going back to the way it should. The land began to separate, Uknatia disappearing with the encroach of a large mist. The mist cut right into the Chateau, but did not get rid of it. Instead, as the mist dissipated, what was revealed was a large ocean channel, Uknatia no longer connecting France and Britain. All the towns, including Alntiem, were gone, and nothing remained. Aaron walked into the Chateau, his wife and children following, knowing what they must do, to prepare... for the future...
