The Holocaust

The Holocaust

People whispering
Shadows fluttering
In the dead of day
Laughter rippling
Dark tears shimmering
Emotions betray

Tyranny empowering
Fear controlling
They are all alone
Cravens lying
Innocent dying
Genocide condoned

Mothers screaming
Babies bleeding
At the dawn of night
Voices dying
Fires fading
Disappearing light

Ears hearing
Hands groping
Accelerating fear
Eyes closing
Hearts breaking
Sensing death is near

Crimson drying
Screams silencing
Deadened by the dark
Regret rising
Although hope existing
Cruelty has left its mark

To the oppressed, the innocent, the brave and loyal, the women and men, mothers and father, and children who lost their lives in the Holocaust during World War II. May they never be ignored or forgotten.

Description

I wrote this in remeberance of the Holocaust. I'm reading the Ane Frank's diary, and I was inspired.
