Fraternal twins, but polar opposites. Somewhat seperated from birth.
So...a bit of a profile for both:
Téa is too busy saving the world to attend the Academia full-time...so she's tutored by Seyla (quite unpleasant).
She gains a lot of political power (and she's only 17!)...though she's more charismatic than brilliant.
She calls herself an alchemist, though she's a rather poor one. It's more of a cover-up for the fact that she doesn't know what the hell her job is.
She likes fencing, but for fighting she just uses powdered magic.

Denny is a bit of a tomboy. She's generally considered "the pretty one", even though a comb has never touched her hair. She's very thin and quite strong.
She's training to be some sort of fighter or whatever. Which is probably a good thing, because she has no magic. Since most of the students in the fighting class are male, she's also slowly lost most of her emotional capability.

Basically, Téa wants to be thin, beautiful, and strong like Denny, and Denny wants to be influential, witty, and gifted like Téa.
