The intermission page between
Dis chapters 2 & 3, hoorah!
The intermission pages are all parodies of actual ancient Greek works. This one is a modified copy of a
statue of Aphrodite, Eros, and Pan, from around 100 BCE, found on the island of Delos, and currently housed at the National Archaeological Museum of Athens.
Tell you what, it was a trick trying to figure out how to make them look sculptural, so I went with lots of straight lines. Also, it's a trick figuring out how to add clothes and make them look right when the originals are all in the nude! The blank eyes help. The reason all those old statues have blank eyes, is because even though we think of these beautiful pieces of white marble when we think of Greek statues...they actually painted them all in the most garish colors of wax imaginable. Red and blue and yellow and green...they would have been atrocious. So, the the eyes would have all been painted on. A fun historical fact!
Hey, go read the comic.

Is that a hypodermic needle Eros is about to stab into Hermes' neck?
If so, that's just priceless

Ah. I remember the painting of the story (I think Aprodite might've been laying or kneeling) The contraposto speaks to me! It says, "I'm bending!" Not to sound asinine on my part but the facial design vaguely reminds me of Aztec/Mayan reliefs.

The pair of them just look oh so ghetto.
