Well, I still haven't gotten to that big scanner, so I hope you don't mind a photo until then.
This was my midterm assignment for my Figure Illustration class. I had to create a bookcover illustration that showed a face and two hands. I luckily had my choice of book, so I picked Victor Hugo's
The Hunchback of Notre Dame, one of my all-time favorites. This figure on the right, of course, is Quasimodo, the hunchbacked bellringer.
I tried to put my all into it, but I realise that there's a lot of flaws. I haven't worked with watercolor very much, so I made all kinds of ridiculous mistakes that are so obvious, like not stretching my paper. >__<
A lot of the trouble came from the fact that I was working in terrible lighting. But! I learned a
lot in putting this together, and it's easily one of the most ambitious things I've tackled. Shoot for the Moon, you know.
Mmmmmm, Gothic architecture. I really must be crazy.

wowz :__: this turned out awesome! i love the splattery texture the wall has and all the shades of blues and grays make the background look so good. the shading and detail, its all beautfil!

But I think for your first try its pretty amazing despite the flaws
You pulled of the lighting so well here. The stone almost comes off as real.
